Is there a way to fix the POS radio in my 2009 Tacoma?

The stock radio in my 2009 Tacoma does some weird thing where the volume control knob has a mind of its own. I'm pretty sure this is a common problem with these trucks.

Is there a way to fix it, even if it means doing board-level work?

    Thanks for any help.

I'm guessing popping the knob off and taking some iso to the contacts would help.

Mine does this too, but I just use the steering wheel controls.

Mine skips when i turn it quickly. I use the steering wheel controls mainly but when I use the radio knob I turn it slower then I otherwise would. I guess you could take it apart and look for wear as the knob. I imagine many here will say to buy a aftermarket radio.

Mine did the same. I removed it and installed one from a 2014 - however this was not a straight swap and took a custom harness. A stock 05-11 radio should be cheap and easy to find though. Or there are tons of aftermarket options if that floats your boat.

When my 2009 started doing this I opted for a Pioneer AVH-4201NEX and never looked back. Apple car play, Android auto, backup camera.

If it's any consolation my stock 2010 radio does the same thing!

Just use the steering wheel controls instead of the knob... the knob doesn't quickly change the volume on my 2010, but the steering wheel controls does.

Pretty sure I already tried that. I'll try again on the way home from work.

Mine does the same thing I've been thinking of a new aftermarket one.
I've tried taking the knob off and spraying contact cleaner in there with limited results. I saw a thread where someone was able to change out the on-off volume control with supposedly a more robust one, but I have limited success with searches.

Mine does the same thing, when I try to turn it off, it ejects the cd, randomly turns the volume up and down.

On the next drive it’s fine
