my tacoma was shown on the dealers website

This might be a stupid question but my tacoma was shown on the dealers website with 4 other tacomas. It said the 4 four were in transit. For a couple of days. Then I looked on there website and none of them were listed at all on the website. Does anybody have a idea at what that means.

 

Call your dealer. All we can do here is take a bunch of wild guesses.

I put down a deposit on an incoming Tacoma and it was taken off the website. If you’ve put a deposit down, until you back out 100%, it is for all intents and purposes sold. If you ordered one, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about either way but definitely call the dealer to verify if you’re concerned.

 

I did order it and put a deposit down.

 

From my experience with ordering vehicles, you should be fine. Unless they’re just garbage salepeople there, they’re not gonna sell it out from under you. Give em a call tomorrow to make sure everything is in order but I’m sure it’s fine.

 

I have been looking for a Rav4 prime on a local dealers website and saw one along with other hybrids . When I called the dealer , I was told that they were already sold and just in transit to the dealer . It seems to be a way of getting calls from people interested in buying . False advertising as far as I am concerned .

 

Or they hadn’t gotten around to removing it from the website. If you’re looking for a RAV4, 4Runner, or Tacoma, I’d highly suggest going in and asking what they’ve got incoming. I’d been hunting a Tacoma all summer and only got one because I put a deposit down on incoming stock. In Virginia, they’re being sold as soon as they hit the lot if not before. Only things around here are base models and there are still only a handful of those.

 

Mine was kept on their website until I picked it up. I guess that they did that just to entice prospective buyers onto their lot.

 

In the case of the Rav4 Prime I was asking about they said the person had put a down payment on an allotment months ago before it was even allotted, so they should have never even put it on the website lol. Anyway the strategy worked because I called .

 

Call them now and call them tomorrow. Make sure whatever deal you have is in writing, signed sealed and delivered.

 

Can’t knock the process, I guess.

Not so sure about that one. I cut a deal with a salesman on a 1986 4wd pickup back in the day when i saw the large truck unloading new vehicles at a dealer as i drove by, one of them was exactly what i'd been looking for. I turned around, and stopped in. We made a tentative deal, but the salesman suddenly remembered he had to check, and said he had to call me later...telling me the truck was already sold. Well i went home, and later got a call from that same dealer telling me if i still wanted the truck i could have it. It made me wonder what exactly happened whether i made him a better offer, or the first sale fell through.

 

Might not be the same situation, but dealers are notoriously slow at updating inventory on their website. This is probably on purpose to generate calls as others have mentioned. When I bought my truck in May it was on my dealer's website as available inventory for a week after it had been sitting in my driveway. My trade-in, on the other hand, was up the next day as a CPO.

 

Yeah, and make sure you tell the dealership that you got a lot of really great (please note sarcasm) and wise advice from random strangers on the internet! They love hearing that.

When in doubt: Go straight to the source of the problem. Don't ask outsiders.

 

Super common to attract buyers for any order people who back out. It happens a lot around the time they actually have to qualify for financing. Also brings in web traffic in general for other inventory.
