Where we live, noise ordinance allows noise as early as 7. Boyfriend is cleaning up the back 1/4 acre with a skid steer. It was the only way to get rid of weeds between knee and hip level.

On a Sunday I never fire up anything till about 10:00. Mowers air compressor. Kinda the unspoken rule of the neighborhood. Saturday and weekdays we all start making noise at 8.

I try to limit my loud stuff (lawn mowers, angle grinders, etc) to between 10am and 4pm, but I also really like my neighbors.

There's a town just north of me where it is supposedly against city ordnance to mow on Sundays but I haven't actually seen it written down anywhere.

I’ve actually been thinking about it. They have little, swing out, micro blades, run silent, compared to a gas mower, GPS, LoJack, flip over and bump safeties, AI (they learn the yard) just roam around day and night nipping the grass and go back to the dock when they need re-charged…

I cut the lawns after work during the week so I can do other things on the weekend. A bunch of my neighbors use the same lawn service, so I get to listen to several hours of mowers, edgers, and blowers every Saturday... super fun.

Normally I'd say no noise until 9am to be respectful but if I had your neighbors I'd put on my headlamp and be out there at 2am with not only my mower but my leaf blower, edge trimmer and my chainsaw. I'd want to make sure Harley Boy is up early and ready for his day :luvya:

I try to stick to 9am. Unless it’s mid summer there’s usually few or something anything that needs to burn off. I work overnight so I’m usually sleeping when everyone else mows their lawns. I just use a fan to drown out the noise.

However firing up the snowblower is kinda different. There’s been times where I fire it up early in the morning if I need to. It’s a different ball game when it’s needed to get out of your driveway after a couple feet of snow. Or during a big storm when you’re trying to manage it all ahead of time.

Wait until the dew evaps off the grass. Mowing wet grass is tough on the mower and yard.

I told my neighbors they can mow, build a fence, play with their kids, make all the noise they like on any day of the week, at whatever hours they need to.

I work 3x12hr night shift over the weekend, and have been for 29 years. I can sleep with curtains and windows wide open during daylight hours. My kids couldn't even get out of vacuuming the house on the weekends in fear of waking me. Not going to happen!

Oddly enough, I can hear when the Brown Santa drops a package at the door. Or my phone ringing in the living room. It only rings on those days if there is an emergency.
