Anyone have experience with the Urd power pipe on a 2.7? What kind of performance difference did you get? How is the exhaust noise?

It will make your exhaust much raspier if you have the stock cat back and will be louder. Unless you’re supercharged or turbo and the cats are a restriction, I’d just keep it stock to keep it quieter

if you’re running an aftermarket cat back, it will get much louder with the URD pipe

I've got the LCE headers, and the tooter type intake spacer. Opened up the air filter box. Looking for a little more performance, without going to boost. Don't want the extra noise though.

Have you checked your fuel trim numbers with those upgrades? I've got some matched 348 cc injectors for sale in the 2nd gen for sale forum that might help out with your improved airflow if your LTFT numbers are getting high.

JL8Jeff, I haven't checked that out. I will look into this. Don't want to get rid of my quiet exhaust, but curious if the power pipe makes a difference like removing charcoal filter, opening up the air box, headers, and the intake spacer!

If you're talking about the pipe without the converter then it will be louder for sure.

edit: I was mixing up the URD URD Power Pipe, 2005-2015 Tacoma 2.7L I4 - Underdog Racing Development (urdusa.com) with the AFE pipe Direct Fit Catalytic Converter Replacement | aFe POWER . If you're talking about the AFE cat-pipe, I think they said it was 2-1/2" where the stock pipe is around 2-1/4". I think the converter is a different style so it's probably louder as well. Do you plan on keeping the stock cat-back exhaust? That will keep it quieter with the stock muffler, but also restrict your power gains.

Yes, I intend to keep the stock exhaust. Like the quiet! Used a dozen 1/2 inch holes in the bottom of the air filter box for better air flow. No intake noise!

I have the URD power pipe, but I'm also turbo. I have it mated to a Magnaflow 2.5 to 3in catback exhaust. It's louder for sure, but not nearly as raspy.
Power gains for me were huge, but again...turbo.

I could see it being annoying on an NA truck, and needing a resonator. But, since you're still stock exhaust you won't have an issue there....But putting the URD power pipe in front of the stock exhaust is pretty pointless IMO. You're still restricting the exhaust, now it's just towards the tailpipe and not the cats.

Anyone have sound samples? I know the URD y-pipe for the 3.5 definitely adds rasp.
