Any of you guys to think this is not normal on hard acceleration… give this a shot.

The next time you are driving on a freeway at night, get in front of a vehicle with room to accelerate. Drop it into third gear (use S mode for autos)and floor it while looking in your passenger side rear view mirror. Highly likely to see your 3.5 shart in their headlights

Condensation from exhaust during acceleration is completely normal. This is a thin cloud that usually disappears quickly in warm weather but can hang in the air in cooler temperatures.

Smoke during a deceleration is not normal. This can be caused by the sudden vacuum created behind the throttle body when it closed, this then creates a vacuum in the combustion chamber and can then suck oil up past the rings. Which then creates a cloud that does not disappear quickly and is usually thicker and darker bluish white.

I never experienced this when I bought my truck. Yes the burn off smell but never any smoke. My truck was fresh off the carrier when I first drove it, all wrapped in plastic. You do have a brand new truck, it is possible that it could be a one off anomaly with the rings trying to set in but for piece of mind I would definitely report this to the dealer and have it looked at. That way if something happens down the road there is a record of it happening. Just my .02 cents.

    Check build thread!
I've actually seen this happen before:

So, for context, I used to drive brand new trucks/cars from dealer to dealer when they'd buy them from each other- this ended up in me driving over 100 separate tacomas a year, and quite a few tundra as well. I've seen this smoking thing happen a few times, sometimes it's a 1 second puff, sometimes a 10 second burst. Mechanics explained it to me as either just the motor breaking in, or something that was in the exhaust burning off. Toyota advised that it's nothing to worry about. If it makes you better, I've kept track of a few of the trucks we've sold, and one of the ones that had a burst of smoke (2020 Tundra TRD OR fyi, but I've seen the same thing out of tacomas) has about 135k km on it now, and he hasn't had an issue.
