My girlfriend and I are about to head out on a 2 month road trip. (Northeast->Oregon->SoCal->Colorado->Kentucky->Northeast) We go the rig pretty much buttoned up. Here is the set up:

    The Bigger (more expensive) Stuff:

    -Leer Mid-rise Bed Cap
    -Bed Cap Thule Rack
    -Roof Top Cargo Box
    -DIY sleeping platform/drawer cabinet
-2 Boulder Pads/Memory foam pad mattress
-Togo Power 650A Power Station (stored in bed cabin)
    -Togo 100 Watt solar panel
    -Costway 73L Refrigerator
-DIY platform for fridge behind driver seat
-Dobinson L59-111-R medium duty leaf pack
    -Dobinson Twin Nitro Rear Shocks
    -Archive Hammer Hangers
-A pretty decent rake (+2.5-3" front to rear)
    -Falken Wildpeak 265-75-16Rs

    Some Other Stuff:

    -Air compressor
    -Plug kit
    -Emergency Roadside Kit
    -Jumper pack
    -AAA membership
    -2.5lb Fire extinguisher
    -slim set of tools
-4X3.5 gallon water bricks (probably only bring 2)
    -camping cook wear
    -Table/chairs
    -Rock climbing gear
    -7lb dog
-Planet fitness membership (for showers here and there)

My questions for you fine folks are the following:

    -Anything addition stuff we're missing?
-Any service I should do before we go besides oil change and fluid check?
-Any cool camping or light off-roading destinations that we shouldn't miss along our route?

Any comments or advice is welcome.

    -Cheers

Sounds like a great time. Make sure Ya keep an eye on where all the fires are. Sedona/ Flagstaff Arizona is awesome if you haven't been around that area. Durango/Silverton Colorado, I don't know if you can work that into your route but those are a couple that we enjoy. Walnut Canyon National Monument is just East of Flagstaff on I 40. I would think you would be buying a National Park Pass, so Sunset Crater just North of Flagstaff is another spot to hit. I could hang out in that area for 2 years and not get everywhere I wanted. Go up to the Snowbowl and ride the lift to the top, perfect weather for that right now.

Have fun, you'll figure most of the stuff out on the road.

Shower Pills (body wipes) are a godsend. Try to pick up a few boxes of those.
Make sure your first aid kit has moleskin, asprin, and skin rash/bug bite cream. Those are the things I tend to grab the most.:anonymous:

Not sure about your route between CO and KY, but the scenic(ish, kinda) route is to drop down below I40 and hit Talihina, OK. The Talimena drive into arkansas is decent and there is plenty of camping along the way. Visit hot springs Ntl Park, get a beer at the bathhouse, then motor on up to Memphis and get dinner at rendevous. Then up to Nashville and KY.

    Stock and staying that way
I was there a week ago. Fine place. If you take the train, I’d only ride steam one way. There is a one way bus, and diesel train. 7 hours on the steam train is a bit much. The pizza place up from the train station was good. Fired Up IIRC

Awesome trip and a lot more than I did my cross country trip with.

A extra gas can for carrying all that weight and ease of mind on the long country stretched off interstates.

Oh, 7lbs of dog won't get ya to far.... I kid I kid. Enjoy the travels!

He said girlfriend so he will need a pallet from costco.

Once it’s wife, one or maybe two is good enough for 2 months.

And I can tell you after being married over 30 years, that all you get is hallway sex. You pass each other in the hallway and say Fuck You! :D

As soon as your garage is out of sight, start questioning yourself if the garage closed all the way then turn around and go back and check.

    And don't forget the toaster.

I drove cross-country in Honda CRX with a bazzilion miles on it slept in the back with a backpack and case of beer. Overthinking things. You will be just fine.
