Corn is being picked and combined here as well, just started in the last 2 weeks or so.

Same here, and the smell of burning cornfields is lovely . Do they burn them there?

Silage for cattle feed is not done when the corn is that dry.

No sir, the fields aren't that big here. They usually bush hog the stalks after picking then cut them with a cut-away hare. That's what we did when we raised it anyway. The ones they combine they usually go back and no till wheat.

Yeah it kind of surprised me too, I seen some other fields being combined last week.
I know the field in the background of that picture is just feed corn for sure. That neighbors business is mostly supplying local farmers...of the beef type.

They burn huge fields here; the smoke has caused many car crashes including an 18 car pile-up several years ago. Also....it stinks. But nobody asked me. :pout:

I have read about using urine to sterilize a wound when out in the woods, stuck on a deserted island, etc..

If you are healthy apparently your urine is sterile when leaving your body in addition to being slightly acidic.

Anyone who grows anything ever deal with mealybugs? I bought some sevin insecticide and used it per @six5crèéd 's advice but a couple days later I'm still seeing some bugs and the residue they leave. I will re treat if needed but I know you're only supposed to use sevin so many times per year with at least a week between uses.

I'm far to lazy to garden and wouldn't recognize a mealy bug if it bit me. That video however was really interesting, all content and no fluff.

I read years ago "To garden a man needs an iron back with a hinge".

    That happens sometimes.
The most recent thing I can think of MIA is my power steering pump pulley puller.
I bought one years ago and remember someone borrowed it but no clue as to who.
