Got the tires mounted...hopefully the weather co-operates and I can paint them this weekend.

I have had good experience with plasti-dip when prepped and applied properly.

here are some 4Runner trail wheels I had on my previous Tacoma with 33” K02s.

I used the Emerald black Hyperdip wheel kit from DipYourCar. Used all four cans plus one extra to get a really nice heavy coat.

you can apply with the wheels and tires mounted and I had no issues, even lug nuts were fine when tires where rotated.

cheap investment and about a half day of casual work to see how you like it. Best of all... reversible and try something else later if you want. I think it was under $100 for everything you need.

    maybe consider this route?

after some mild prep and primer, i used Duplicolor Wheel Covering, a rattle can paint, on my last car's wheels. it was super durable and had a slightly nicer finish than plastidip. but it was just a bit nicer, not a lot. i shot at least 5 coats on them iirc which is likely the durability i had. they were solid for 5 years and could have gone much longer.

I also vote for plasti dip. It's cheap and easy to do - just be sure to go heavy on the coats for easy removal.

Looks good! I thinks it’s a great option and protects original finish if you need to go back or sell at a later date

I just painted mine with the VHT Wheel Paint. I like the look...we'll see how it holds up.
