My wife and I are discussing driving from the SF Bay Area to Colorado Springs and/or maybe Idaho during the Thanksgiving week and/or Christmas break.

I think the southern route HWY 40 East to 25 North should be "OK" as far as weather.

My question is what is I-80 or I-70 from Reno east to 25 south to Denver like in the winter?

The most dangerous part of the trip will be as you leave San Francisco. Watch out for the tents and poop on the roads. Once you get further East you’ll have smooth sailing.

It all depends on the weather. Sunny and warm life is good. If you drive through a 200 year storm life could be interesting.
