The $140 fee was for them to diagnose the issue. Which I completely understand now. However the dealership said that since the battery does not fail the test that they run all the damage is not covered under warranty. They told me that it is battery acid and they don’t know what happened but they said it could be caused from off-roading, yet the truck has never seen anything but asphalt. Their other explanation is just from heat hitting the battery from the engine. If that’s the case why is the truck getting hot enough to cause the battery to spew acid all over the driver side engine bay? I didn’t have time to pick up the truck today or talk to the service representatives in person but will be discussing it further tomorrow morning.

You're lucky to have a dealer that works for free. Most won't and I don't blame them.
