    I wanted light weight, which put me to either 5052 or 6061 aluminum (weldable)
    Of the two, 5052 has better forming characteristics, I had access to a manual brake, which was at its limits, and mine with 3/16 plate.

    I took off the vent cover and drilled the three holes for the screws. It’s extremely durable and strong and I believe it will last for many years.
