They make good money, if they’re good anyway. They make even better money if they own their own truck/business.

I dunno how the oilfield in Cali is, or if there is one, but it’s on the boom side of cycle around here

They're in demand freaking everywhere around here.

The second instructor (main one) came in an hour before the end of class and told me the two discussed spending extra time with me on brazing. They'll have me work it different ways as a lot of it translates to TIG welding.

    Yeah down for a 5vz up for a 3rz

But even putting it in backwards won't move the needle over the center of it's sweep

But like to "mangle/destroy" it... I can't conceive how that would be possible short of putting it in backwards than tightening the screws and crushing the end of it

They make great money but I don't recommend it, last I knew it was exclusively stick welded and fuuuuccckkk a solid 8hrs of that and only that. I've known a couple pipeline welders and they get burnt out quick, and of the oldheads have serious health issues now as well (some have only done it for 20yrs)

Plus do you really wanna be in this position for a work day?498337716GasPipeline.jpg

One of my former welding instructors was in a refinery explosion... Took the settlement money, invested it and is a welding instructor to pass the time

@BartMaster1234 they will work. You just need to do a little fenagaling to get the screws in.

Lol. Try 10 or more. Those guys make a shitload of money mainly due to them being a prisoner to their job (literally living on the job site) and pulling a ton of overtime.

It means that skilled professionals, in general, have more demand than supply. Even though you may not want to take a given job, somebody will. That creates openings in your location.
