Good to know. Thankfully I'm swapping the SC on so I don't have to put her down while waiting.

I would try and call to get an estimated turnaround time from before committing to any rebuild shop...some places have been taking a notoriously long time since covid happened.

Decided it was time to upgrade to the high output AEM 50-1220 340lph fuel pump.
It's almost IDENTICAL to the stock Denso fuel pump.

The Pittsburgh engine hoist works perfectly to remove the bed.
Took about an hour to get the bed off going slowly,
Then decided to clean up the frame and paint

You can buy a brand new one for that much. Sure it won't come with the gauges and 7th injector kit. But it will be brand spanking new.

The TRD branded superchargers aren't as important in CA anymore - Magnuson got CARB certification for theirs a few years ago. So even theirs will come with a hood sticker to pass smog with.

The 7th kit costs about $800 or so, I can't remember...got mine like 5 years ago. It's an outdated band-aid at fixing lean issues though.

@eon_blue Is there an updated fix for to replace the 7th injector?

One issue with the 7th is that the stock tune it comes with usually isn't good enough, and the software to customize it with is really outdated. Still doable though

But it still doesn't help much with closed loop pinging that the 3.4's are well known for with boost. People that run methanol injection seem to be happier with that route, plus it does a better job at cooling

If you're just going to run a stock supercharger setup though you *might* be able to get away with no fuel upgrades. Some people are lucky like that. But if you want to run a smaller pulley and push more boost you likely will have to upgrade somehow.

really the best way to go is like how @1997tacomav6 did recently and bypass the stock ECU entirely with a standalone ecu like a Haltech one. But living in CA that's a big CARB no-no...then again so is the 7th injector kit. They haven't caught mine yet though lol.

I should knock on wood because I have another test coming up in a month or so

Ok, since you mention bypassing the stock ECU and tuning. Living in CA, when you take the truck for a SMOG, they're starting to look for tunes to the stock ECU. Is there even a work around for this?

With the Haltech you can keep your stock ecu and switch back to it... @1997tacomav6 has more knowledge on it though. But it doesn't sound too bad

the 7th is a piggyback controller and doesn't effect the stock ecu at all, just have to hide the 7th controller so it's not visible during the visual inspection.

There really aren't any tunes for our truck's ecu's so it's not something we need to worry about (the new CA ecu tunes inspection)

Haltech Stand alone is definitely the ultimate ECU solution for the supercharger or turbo.
    It’s pricey tho,
Haltech eliminates the open loop closed loop equation, no MAF sensor used!
You will get a bunch more top end power and a whole bunch more lower rpms power that comes on right away.
Fuel map, timing map that are fully adjustable.

once the haltech is installed it takes maybe 10 minutes max to switch back to the stock setup.
Just unplugging and replugging the stock ECU

Hey guys, having some pinging issues and looking for advice. Before installing the supercharger I did the following:

    new fuel filter
    Injectors serviced/cleaned
    Ik22 plugs
    Deatschwerks dw100 fuel pump

Afterwards it ran great, no pinging at sea level and 93 octane. I finally took my first trip and was getting pinging with 91 octane (highest available) at sea level and up to 4000 ft at low rpms/high load.

I’m leaning towards getting a snow stage 2 meth kit, is this going to solve my issues for low rpm pinging? Otherwise I’ll just remove it, the extra power is nice but ultimately I much prefer reliability for what I do.

You should put in the AEM pump, it’s rated at 340 Lph,
    I have zero ping issues,
The dw 100 is only rated at 165 lph,

This combine with other posts has me wondering- if AFs are the same between a 190, 200, 340lph pump etc, but on the same truck one setup would ping, the other doesn't, and all other variables the same, is it a fuel pressure issue with ping? Meaning if the fuel pressure drops but air ful/quantity is compensated via duty cycle, is the ping because the atomization of the fuel is compromised? That ping is from larger droplets of the same amount of fuel as a more atomized injection?

I'm not getting anything in google that says better atomization reduces ping, just efficiency and emissions. I assume better atomization better rapidly reduces charge temps, but enough to affect our pingy 5vzs?
