I liked the idea of the TE when it was first announced, but I feel the same as you now. I don't get it. Toyota is really capitalizing on what people want their truck to look like, and charging a premium for it.

Toyota said they made this truck, and the 22 Pro for people to photograph.

If the Instagram server went down, Tacoma sales would immediately drop 20-30%

Once the server went back on line, it would be like the relaunch of the 1st gen Tacoma. People would act like the never seen a Tacoma before.

But think of all the influencers who would have starved to death in the mean-time. I shudder to think!

I'm thinking of getting one of these if I can find a good fog light kit that looks stock. I don't need multi terrain or crawl control as long as there's a locking diff. I'm really diggin the bronze and I expect the resale value to be a little better for these.

Toyota released msrp on the 2022's and I've been reaching out to local dealers(ga) trying to put in an accusation for one of them in lunar rock but havent had much luck. From what ive been told across the board is that the trd pro/trail edition havent been pushed to dealers yet and they cant see msrp/order them. Ive spoken to quite a few dealers about it with no luck. I've also been told there is a paint shortage on lunar rock and accusations for that color aren't being filled. Take it with a grain of salt, hopefully not the case.

For me personally the trail is the perfect truck, everything i need but nothing i don't. The rear locker is the key for me without that i would opt for the OR, i can do without crawl control/mts. The spacer lift, wheels, grille, accents are all some of the first mods i would do and I'm a sucker for bronze. I also think the resell value will be pretty good on these being most likely the last year of this body style and this specific trim only being offered like this for one year potentially.

I've called almost every dealer in Northern CA and they all say they won't even take a deposit since they are so far out. November seems like the absolute earliest I would expect.

Good to know im not alone. I've never bought a new car so have no idea on how this process typically works and most car salesmen are far from trustworthy in my limited experience. Ive spoken to quite a few dealers myself so i didnt think i was getting the wring around per say but most ive spoken to dont even know about the trail and just try to push me off to another model which i find frustrating.

Does anyone know what the standard interior features are? Does it come with any of the tech packages? I cant get all the answers from a dealer yet, but I know I will be able too soon.

Apologies in advance if this has been posted, but does anyone know if the TE comes with standard SR5 suspension? If so, I'm surprised that Toyota didn't add some TE trim specific suspension. Maybe all those people saying that the standard SR5 suspension (vs OR's Bilsteins/Pro's Fox) is good enough for most off roading were right after all..

It is not the same suspension as the SR5. The trail has a lift produced by some updated springs from what I can recall. This is outlined in the basic release of info Toyota made on this model. #commonman

I ended up putting in an order for a trail edition in army green. The dealer was able to quote me MSRP which is a few grand cheaper than a TRD off road in automatic. Anyway, they said it'd be 8-12 weeks before they got it in (which I think is very early). Just seeing if any of y'all tried doing this yet. If so, how long is your dealer saying itll be for it to show up?

Honestly tho, I see where the draw is to go with the Off road.. I think its about time Toyota threw on at least some 32's or even 33's on what they call their "off road" rig.

I've gathered that lift is gained by an actual increase in shock/coilover height, at least in the front. Idk if this means more travel at all, but at least they arent just throwing a spacer in the front and calling it a lift.
