Started noticing a barely perceptible resistance in my steering when driving at high speeds a month ago. Can't say I notice it at 30mph or less.

It's gotten more pronounced recently, but still is a perplexing issue: I'm driving on the highway and when I approach a curve it feels as though my steering has resistance, but it comes free as I turn, and doesn't operate at all like when the pump is gone. Again, don't notice it driving in town at 30mph.

I have noticed for several years that at startup I'll occasionally hear a 2 second whine that I assumed was coming from the power steering pump.

Fluid level is good and also clean, and I had line broken line replaced a couple years ago.

Is this possibly a power steering pressure sensor issue?

Check your lower intermediate steering shaft.
The lower joint likes to rust.
I had lack of return to center.
    PB blast and grease helped.
    But was replaced.

Definitely the ujoint in the intermediate shaft. Lube it and discover normal steering. Best to replace it
