Took Stony Pass over from Lake City CO to the Silverton side 36 miles with the 1st 18 smooth road till mile 18 when you start going up. Lots of loose rock on all the roads in the Alpine Loop area. Bear hunters out scouting so tons of UTVs and 4 wheelers around. Cross pole creek going up. At the top of the pass you can hike 1.7 miles up and 1.7 miles back at 12,500 ft along the Continental Divide trail to the Rio Grande river headwaters and see the small spring where it starts.
