I wonder... @plim11, your tail and license lamps are on, are your dash lights on too?

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
On my '21 TRD OR AC I noticed recently that when the headlight switch is set to Auto/DRL my dash lights (speedo & tach) are off during the day but on after dark. Suspect they're controlled by the ambient light sensor in the dash.

I have the same truck as you, base 19 OR without auto lights. Just went and checked and my running, tail and plate lights are NOT on in the DRL setting. They only come on once I flip it to the fog lights.

My 2021 TRD OR with OEM LED headlights, auto headlights, and auto high beams, does NOT activate tail/license plate lights while DRLs on.

But I will say that I wish it did!

Maybe your new headlights crossed some wires that makes your tail end think DRLs are the same setting as low-beams.

All I can say is that my 2017 Off Road has always had the tail lights and rear license plate light ON at the same time as the DRLs. From the moment I took delivery. I haven't asked anyone, as to me, it seems a logical design. So I have always assumed it is working as Toyota engineers intended, rather than something wrong.

Your truck is a '19, and I'm guessing that's all you should compare to at the moment, since operations could have changed before or after.

This is from page 213 of the '19 owners manual. You'll note it does not mention anything about tail lights, it only speaks to the front lights.

I still think your diagnostics start with those replacement headlights.

    Problem solved:
I had grill lights tapped to my drls and parking lights. Removing tap to parking light fixed the issue. Just good to know the source of the issue and now i have the option to have it on or off with the drls :)

Grill lights? As in raptor lights? You originally said the headlight swap was all you'd done.

Well, at least you figured it out.
