I have 2015 Tacoma TRD, the fuel door has to be replaced. It rusted off of one hinge and is ready to fall of of the other. I would like to modify the fuel door, rebuild it with a door that can be opened from the interior of this Tacoma. Is it possible to modify a fuel door on 2015 Tacoma TRD?

I'm sure anything is possible but you just got me thinking. I have a 94 T4R that has a fuel door that opens with a lever under the driver dash. My 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport of course does not have this. Anyway you might could check your local junk yards and remove the parts and cable off a wrecked 4runner and incorporate it into your truck. The hardest part would be running the cable. It might take a little spot welding on the fuel door to add the latch from the 4runner. O hell OP you got me wanting to do this now. If you do figure something out let us know and take pics. I will do the same.

    That's rusty.

What kind of shape is the frame in, as body rust is secondary to frame rust on these trucks.

Just a thought here, but I’d think you’d find install easier and more expeditious if you did some type of aftermarket setup with a remote popper than you would running cables and replacing dash/kick panels to accommodate a factory setup.

    I could be wrong..

I would be more concerned how it rusted that fast.

I like the way you think. Some type of mechanism with a key fob.

I was assuming road salt but I'm in the south and hardly ever see snow so salt is no issue here. What caused it OP...

I see a solenoid with a hook and some wiring and a push button in the cab...this seems totally doable!

who's gonna get this done first?? :D
