I kept the factory struts in the front and used the Fat Bob's in the rear. The rears have to be longer for the longer travel and the ones that came with the kit are heavy duty compared to the stock Toyota rears. You can also use rear shocks from a Prerunner or a 4wd Tacoma of the same generation. 5-lugs are very limited on the front aftermarket struts, but Bilstein has the 4600's that are made for them. The stock strut is holding up rather well with close to 50k miles since the lift was installed and almost 80k miles on the truck. The overall ride will be stiffer in the rear with the add a leaf. It will break in and soften up with use. If you need to break it in faster then put weight in the bed or tow a trailer with tongue weight and it will soften up faster. I have a topper that I occasionally use and it rides better with the weight.

I am still impressed with performance of the lift and have had zero issues so far especially considering I live on a rough clay/sand road that rarely gets scraped.

What size tires and rims did you put on with this package? Also did you change any gearing?

Stock 5-lug 15x6 rims with 31x10.5 Goodyear wrangler authorities(wal-mart). I've got close to 50k miles on the tires. They are great for traction but loud on the road. I will probably go with a 16" alloy rims when I have to buy new tires in the next few thousand miles. No regear, although it would be nice to have 4.10s over the stock 3.58 but the truck handles the 31's no problem.

Sorry, so what would the tire size be if I were to order? I’m seeing like 245/75/15 as an example.

Tire size is 31"x10.5"x15" LT(light truck) on stock wheels. Note: Wal-mart will no longer mount bigger than stock tire sizes on stock rims.

    Hey!
I have a 2015 Tacoma SR and I am looking forward to lifting my truck, however, I have a few questions. I am a bit new to this forum and modding trucks in general, so sorry if I do bother you. When you said that the rear shocks can be used from a Pre-Runner/ 4WD, can I instead just opt in for something like a Bilstein 5100 or 4600 instead ~ or is that OEM???

Any stock height rear shocks that are made for the 4wd or prerunner should work on the lifted 5 lug.

How is the lift holding up I’m thinking of doing the same kit o my ‘13 2wd AC auto. They are great trucks. I’ve never seen a base reg cab in spruce mica that’s a sharp truck. Do you drive much in snow?

Hey, I confused on how the rear was lifted? I added a leaf to my rear springs and it didn’t change ride height any. Someone told me it was because the springs were mounted under the axle. What do I need?
