After loosing our 15 year old golden several months ago, my wife and I were putting out feelers to see if we could find a new dog to love on. Long story short, a breeder got a 4 month old Aussie returned and we were asked if we’d be willing to rehome him. We brought him home Saturday. Our adventures with “Banjo” begin!

Yeah....He definitely has a lot more energy than a 15 year old Golden Retriever!

We were worried that he might come with "baggage" from the original owners....but honestly, I think they were on the right track with him. He knows "No" (even when he tries to ignore it). He sits or comes on command. He's super friendly with no fear of people.

On the other side, he's never been by himself until now (the original owner had an older dog as well) so he barks when we crate him and he acts like he's never been on a leash before...so work to do. Oh...and he's a puppy so he chews on EVERYTHING except the 5 chew toys we bought him (see comment on "NO!" above).

he's an aussie through and through. Stubborn as they come but very loyal. He'll adapt and will become a great dog.

My condolences on the loss of your Golden! The life you gave your golden and vice versa will come back two fold in your aussie. No dog can be replaced but another angel just entered your life.

This poor boy came on our porch during the big storms yesterday, he was whimpering -Scared so he spent the night with us. He will get vet check, and we will try to find his owner-temporary pet for now. Very friendly and hungry! He ate like a king last night!

With sadness I bring news of a Crossing - He was called Eleven - as in "Crank that volume up to 11!"

I knew the guy just about seven months; my girlfriend - Jennifer - has had him a decade. When we (me and my two pups - 9yo Vizsla - called Aoife - and 12yo beagle/pit mix - Gracie) moved in, 11 sometimes would play and romp with them; in the past month and few weeks especially his dementia would take-hold and he would often stand motionless, forgetting, perhaps, what he was supposed to do. He was unstable as he walked but never a problem. He was well-loved and served his mission beautifully - taking care of Jennifer and the house. Now his back yard is in good hands as Gracie patrols the fence line and lazily lays in the late afternoon autumn sun - while Aoife begs to be let back inside because she's a princess.
The night prior, my daughter and her boyfriend came over for a small dinner party - and Eleven came out to the fire pit on the back patio - we were all there, listening to music and laughing - and the pups were snuggling, and even Eleven eventually gave in to his predilection for much-deserved pets and pats.
Sunday morning I was in bed, and Jennifer walked into the bedroom, then into the bathroom and saw Eleven there - I didn't notice him moving from the bedroom floor to the bathroom - but Jennifer found him collapsed into a large puddle of urine. We dried him a bit, and carried him to the back yard where he stood for awhile...then achingly and painfully slowly he lay down on the grass. He refused water, but soaked up brushes and loves and pets and snuggles as his breathing grew labored and we knew. Jennifer was with him at the vet as he crossed the rainbow bridge - as I arrived to the Vet i noticed a raven or a crow atop Jennifer's car - and I thought he was there to escort Eleven to the afterlife. Jennifer and I spent some time with what was Eleven's broken, old body and we shared some thoughts and tears before they wheeled him back behind the doors and then he was gone. He was probably over 15 years.

    His rest is well-earned.

This is the old-man; I took this yesterday morning as he lay in the back yard getting some brushes by Jennifer.
