Does the horn work? I love this idea and I'm having trouble finding a replacement wheel.

It’ll work. You have a 2003 so the IS300 cruise control, and horn should plug in and work. But you’ll need to swap to the IS300 clockspring.

Oh I’m thinking about the button shifters. I wanted to use them for stereo control.

Pardon my annoying questions -- I'm look at an extremely pricy but very nice 2000 Rav4 wheel with a 2001 cruise control stalk. Seller claims aligns with much of your posts I've read here that it is plug and play. I'm just trying to think of what I may be missing, as I don't want to make what would be an expensive lesson. My stock wheel is worn down to the damn threads, I have to pull it if I want to send it away to be fixed anyway, so just thinking about throwing my hands and going with the 3-spoke.

    Whats very pricey?

I paid $13 for mine from a junkyard. Then $300 to have it leather wrapped. I would find one from a junkyard to confirm it works before spending the money on something nice. From what youre saying, it should work but I dont want to say 100% that it will since Im just some rando on the internet.

Understood. It's in great shape, but already pulled -- and $430. I already tried to buy a new Taco wheel from Toyota but it's discontinued and out of stock. I was quite stunned considering it's the same wheel in the old Tundra and Sequoia, plus the hundreds of thousands of Tacos sold '01-'04 (though the Sequoia's was fancier). I've looked at 4Runner steering wheels, same issue, would have to find a good one used yadda yadda.

It wouldn't scream at me so bad except you HAVE to interact with the wheel every time you drive! I have an ugly and slipping sleeve-over cheap cover, which doesn't cover all the excessive wear that actually goes all the way up the spokes, to the steering wheel cover.

Don’t have a junkyard around you? My steering wheel from the IS300 cost like $30

I don't know if it's lady luck or geography, but I was the junkyard earlier this spring (coincidentally, I own an IS300 as well) with hope of finding some bits and piece of they were stripped BARE, including the wheels.

But you may be right -- I need to be more assertive. It's just hard to make the time...

The key to finding parts off Junkyard Toyota vehicles other than Camrys and Corollas is to be the first one to get to the car once they dump it in the yard. Use sites like Row52 to check local inventories.

Instead of an IS300 wheel, the same wheel (with minor differences) can be found in Rav4's, Celicas, and a few Scions that are more common in junkyards.

The Rav4 would be nice because I like that it has the Toyota emblem, and won't have the silly shifter buttons that my IS has (yes, it is an auto). I really should be more patient with this vehicle I bought just two weeks ago...
