Most aggravating cable fishing ever. Pivots was so much better on their carbon frames. No idea how Santa Cruz carbon frame is with cables.

At the rear triangle I just stuck a small Allen in there and kept jabbing the cable back and forth into it until the Allen went inside of it to guide it out.

I usually start from the back and push to the front.

Also the frustration and success you’ve experienced has more to do with frame construction than it does with branding. Any frame with tube in tube routing will be cake compared to one without. Most all modern carbon frames are tube in tube, whereas the majority of alloy are not.

like @backcountryj said, route from the back. I had a blur that i made the mistake of trying to guide cables from the headtube down. Much easier starting from the rear triangle and working your way up. santa Cruz suggested this as well for my blur.

Gotcha, yeah I started from center. So near bottom bracket for both.

As far as internal tube in tube on carbon frames I heard an interesting podcast that claimed that makes the hearing or curing process for a carbon frame weaker based on observation of warranty claims.

I know my Firebird didn’t have tube in tube routing and you could hear the cables clapping in the chunky stuff. Not enough to bother me though.

the reason the pivots are easy to route is the bottom bracket has a dropout in the underside of the frame

I attached my vintage Yakima tandem rack to my Martin cab rack for an upcoming trip to Palo Duro. Do you internet engineers think 4 1/4" 20 stainless steel bolts and 80/20 t-nuts are suitable for the task? Looks like they should be about 1,500# sheer strength but IDK. It feels mighty solid.

Thanks for the Navajo Rocks recommendation gents, I loved it as an introductory ride. Did 9 miles there this morning then shot over to Captain Ahab (pic above from the top). Ya’ll are going to think I’m weird but I enjoyed the techy climbing more than the descending :anonymous:

Not weird at all! The climbing on Ahab is at least half the fun.

That slickrock grip makes climbing some of that stuff super fun. Feels like you can climb vertical walls.

Nice! Such a fun ride, she'll love it. And hopefully get her out more!

Rode Red Bull in Park City today. Holy hell it was loose! Few hike a bike sections above my paygrade, but the last super steep hill that runs out to the road was so slick. Gave it a go and washed out the front at the top, and according to the guy behind me, did a tuck and roll to about 3 cartwheels before I slid to the bottom. Then to add insult to injury, got hit by my bike. :bananadead:

Gonna go home and find the ibuprofen. Im gonna need it.

I’m still processing what I went through today. I did not expect to progress as a rider so much in one day. My favorite was Hazard county and lower half of Porcupine Rim. If anyone has a chance to ride this that hasn’t already do yourself a favor and do it!

FFS some people are annoying to sell to

BTW, this isn’t for the bike. I’d be more inclined to go by a LBS for someone buying that. This is for the XO1 crankset for $290 shipped.

No idea, that's why I said good luck getting ebay listing from Taiwan to go to a LBS that he sent me a link to.
Anyways, I'm not going to a LBS, because, though I'm 5 minutes from one, I don't feel like going in there, explaining what a PITA the dude is to sell to, and then waiting on his payment to hit before I leave and let them ship it.
