How much oil is it using? One quart in 3000 miles is normal.

    Probably needs valve stem seals.

Assuming 25 miles a day? Burning not leaking? That’s a lot of oil going through the cats. When is your next exhaust test?

My truck has almost 140K miles and was burning about a quart of oil every 3,500 miles, but I switched to 10W30 and it seems to have helped somewhat; I had a compression test sometime in 2020 and it came back normal...

Unless it is excessive, oil burning/consumption will not cause a vehicle to fail emissions testing, at least not here in Pennsylvania...

Did New Hampshire ever have emissions testing? I thought they did at one point...?

Sounds like valve seals or rings to me with that much oil consumption
Call LKQ. They are country wide
    I really can’t see a 2.7 being expensive

    Stock, 4WD, Access Cab, White,
    Rings or valve seals.

Steer clear of the "cure in a bottle". At best the "fix" will be temporary.

I wouldn’t waste my money with any gas additives.
My guess would be a rings. Did you happen to get wet vs dry compression #’s

Some gas additives do actually help clean injectors and such, (the owners manual recommends Chevron Techron) but not going to help with burning oil in this case.

Project Farm did a video on Restore oil additive and did actually see some measurable gains in compression but ymmv.

I agree. If you add anything, add it to the oil.

I’m pretty sure the 2TR uses low tension rings.
The rings can get stuck in the piston ring groove and not allow the ring to expand fully.

It can’t hurt to try it, but I doubt it will help.
That’s a good bit of psi difference.
