I admit it, I want a sound mod. But I take it off roading and want high clearance if possible. Have checked out Magnaflow and Flowmaster. If you have these exhausts how would they do wheeling? Husband says no chopping off the exhaust. Any other brand suggestions? TIA

Magnaflow has that overland one that is high clearance. Mbrp has that muffler with turn down.

But why no chop? That's literally the only thing needed to make it high clearance and it's after the muffler so no worries about sounding like a ricer

I mean how does he feel about chopping fenders and cab mount chops? It'd be one thing if there was an interest in possible increased performance or change in exhaust sound, but if the only reason is for slight increase in clearance....then spending $500-800 vs. a rusty $5 hacksaw that hides in the garage with a worn out blade doesn't make much sense to me.

And just chop it, buy this item below, and pay a shop $20 to weld it on. Bam, refined. Maybe order a magnaflow sticker and put it on the window

Pretty sure reroute and chop is the only option. You say it’ll look unfinished but you can’t see it so I don’t understand???? Good luck.

Is that what you did to yours? If so, how do you like it? Will I be able to change it if I do chop it?

I did it to mine over 2.5yrs ago. The sound increase was just a bit and just enough to keep me happy.

My only negative is that I wish it was a mandrel bend. Completely reversible though. :welder:

My husband has a membership to a makers works place that has machines and tools and welding equipment. Wonder if we can use them to shape the exhaust?

    Excellent.

I cut it myself, but struggled at expanding the thick gauge of the bends from the cut section of the tailpipe. It is easy to cut and if you or he can expand one of the sections, it is easy to weld. You need a hydraulic expander to do the work.

Of course, leave a bit if you decide to change things.

You can also buy downturn tips to weld or clamp on there. You just need the OD of the pipe which I cannot remember for sure. There is only a short distance to the axle, so make sure that if you buy one, it is short enough.

Here was the quick remedy until I could get to an exhaust shop, but I would have liked to just use that section as it had a nice bend in it. I had to saw cut it to temporarily fit it on there.

if you find an exhaust shop you like then your options are many. i think the cat back options are not the best way forward, because exhaust work is fairly inexpensive, totally reversible, and if you're doing custom work then you can dial in your fit however you like. many have the pre axle turn down like you see in @tonered 's pic. i had it and didn't like it myself. if you're picky about the sound quality then that can be a can o worms. doing it like tonered, staying with the stock muffler, keeps it easy. if you want to go for sound quality and/or performance then that will be more effort and expense. i have redone my whole exhaust quite a few times to get it right for me.

I want to fiddle with the sound and move it so it some of it doesn't get crushed. I am not the most careful wheeler.
