I was going to replace the cigarette lighter in the center console today with the USB/C quick charger and voltage monitor. This has turned out to be a lot bigger job then originally thought. I think the only thing left holding it in now is the glove box.

I wanted to replace the cigarette lighter with a Quick Charge 3.0, 12v USB/C and battery voltage monitor. In order to do this, it was necessary to completely remove the center panel which meant removing or loosening almost everything around it (including the glove box).

Below is what I had chosen to put in place of the cigarette lighter. This did require enlarging the mounting hole slightly to make it fit.


Here is a picture of the back side of the center panel with all of the switches. I’ve circled the cigarette lighter and power plug.

Shop is still waiting on parts for the lift, I'll post a new picture of the truck after it's completed.

 

Added in the Rago Fabrication Center Console Storage. Very happy with how it turned out, it will provide me with several accessory locations for things I don't want near my window area.

Rear Leaf Springs:

I see quite a few threads on this topic on-line and here in TW. I'm estimating 300-500 base load that will always be on the back of the truck. The issues that caught my eye were with the leaf springs going flat over time.

I was looking at the Dearver J66 set but when taking into consideration what my
base weight will be, I really should be looking at the Deaver U402 Stage II.

 

3" Lift completed, now I need to get some real sliders.

Huge difference from steps being bolted to the body vs. the CBI being bolted to the frame. I'm glad I never hit anything with the steps.

Got rid of all the chrome, replaced with TRD Pro Grille with TSS sensor and smoked amber lights.

 

Thanks for posting info on the USB charger install, I have one on the shelf waiting to go in just haven’t tackled it yet.

What’s that on your hood? Antenna, booster?

 

With the added weight and tire size, I went ahead and upgraded the brakes with the PowerStop Z36 kit. I'm very happy with how this turned out.

 

Hi Kopasz, that's an 85w solar panel.


I regret installing the USB/C with a power switch, it's already hooked up to the key. I'll swap it out next time I'm working on dash components. Keep in mind, that's like a 1.5 - 2 hour job removing and reinstalling the center control panel.

 

Super excited, ARB Twin air compressor arrived, just need to install now under hood, passenger side.
