Something wrong with the rear passenger thread (IFS skid) - help

    So I got my RCI full skids and went about starting the install this weekend. Took off the old crappy OEM skid and got the IFS skid in place. Loosely fitted the front 4 17mm bolts easily. When it came to the 13 mm rear bolts the driver side one hand tightened easily. The passenger one would start but bound up almost instantly. I didn't want to force it with the ratchet and the bolt also starts to "lean" once you put even light pressure on it when trying to screw it in. I switched the bolts from one side to the other and continued to have the same problem on the passenger side. I think the welded in nut is messed up. What's the fix for this? I don't want to do any damage to it but also think If I try to muscle it in I'm going to totally wreck it.

    First thing to try is cleaning/straightening the threads with a thread chase or a tap. Thread chase is better because it doesn’t remove much if any metal. FF4FA292-47F1-4F79-A037-12541D38182F.jpg

    Quikfix seat risers and lic plate mount, MESO interior and stage 1 tails, glove box and console dividers, shelf for center console, FACTOR 55 hitch link, TC bed stiffeners, OE bed mat,
    Make sure they sent you Metric Bolts.
    The rear bolts are 8mm in dia (13mm is the wrench size) and have a 1.25 thread pitch.
    An American 5/16 inch with course threads will thread into an 8mm hole about 3/4 of a turn.

    Thanks all, buying the thread chase now.

    The bolts on the rear are correct as they work in the drivers side hole but not the passenger side.

    I've never had skids (other then the tinfoil OEM one) that used this bolt hole before so not sure how it was ever cross threaded.

    Bought the chase and tried it out today. It binds up quick and I really don't want to totally fuck this up. I've watched several videos on using the thread chase and I'm doing it right but no luck so far......

    Tap would be your next step if they're too buggered up for the chase. Don't sweat it I've done the same thing and tap got it all good.

    So a buddy who has chased threads and tapped them before gave me a hand. We got it cleaned out and he's pretty sure it was some welding slag. Downside is the nut inside the frame was not welded flat.....
