Looking for LOTS of advice. I haven't taken the best care of the exterior of my 2013 Tacoma. I finally took it to be lightly detailed today (they did a terrible job) and when I was furthering cleaning it up noticed that the roof has spots where it's faded - smaller spots at this point about the size of an orange. There is a couple of them. I'm assuming the clear coat has worn off?

How to I stop this from getting worse until I can afford to get it painted? I live in Texas and my truck is out in the sun all day. Ugh.

Don't really know much about what affects and protects exterior paint.

Also, I have some teeny tiny chips on hood with rust, like the size of a pin head. Advice on handling those?

You can wrap it, paint it, or leave it as-is. I wrapped mine for similar and also different reasons. The material was less than $100 and I did it myself. I think someone quoted me $600 to wrap the roof.

It’ll be awhile before I can swing or justify painting the roof - a year? I’ve read other threads about this issue. My concern with wrapping it is that the wrap adheres to the clear coat so if there’s issues with it, it can affect the wrap.

Need some pictures (including rust spots), but it's more than likely similar to the others where the paint is past the point of correction. If that's the case, try to keep it waxed to help mitigate/slow the spread until you can afford to have the troubled areas repainted. And in the meantime, rust spots need to be removed and touched up.

Has anything ever been done to your truck's exterior in regards to care & maintenance? I'll let the paint experts chime in, but I'm guessing the rest of your truck's exterior needs more than just a wax job (i.e. clay bar, compound, polish, wax, etc.).
