Hey everyone. I currently have Dakar’s, billies b110’s shocks, and bamf HD hangers.

Just got a bamf shock relocation and considering Chevy 63’s since the dakars have some age to them.

Based on my reading the chevy leafs should maximize and be happier with all the droop compared to the Dakar’s?

also my rigs heavy so I’m thinking 4 leafs pack. Any tips/advice would be helpful.

Appreciate it. I’m in Canada so to get deavers here aren’t as cost effective as the 63’s. Sell what I currently have and go 63’s!

So yea I pulled this the other day… my buddy’s raptor on 37 destroyed his steering rack at an off road park and no one would come get it for 3 days…. Taco to the rescue. Did great got 10mpg haha, I am on 35s and 5.29 gears for reference……… yes people I know this was a bad idea, no I don’t do this a lot and I do have a BBK and trailer brakes.

 

how can I see more about this install? Love the outboard shocks! I’m curious about all your measurements and placement as I have a 95.5

 

I know it says 2010+.... So 2019 sierra springs would work?

Haha. Things have escalated and this is the best bang for the buck route for running longer shocks.

 

Did 63s last night. Took about 5 hours to do. Running the usual 3 leafs, Ruffstuff universal hangers, and 4" shackles. Sits nice and low.
Haven't flexed it out yet, but under full droop on jackstands its maxing out my 14s. Should be able to bottom out the shocks aswell, depends on how much I want to negative arch the leafs. For shocks I'm running 14" 2.5s with Ruffstuff towers poking through the bed. Plan to add a crossmember to the towers and going to plate the rear frame in.

 

A little something different. Been running 63s for about 5 years now with no complaints. Picked up a deaver 62 pack with a broken main for super cheap and took the main pack of it minus the military wrap/main leaf and put it below my 63 main. Interested to see how it ends up working.

 

How do you like those air bumps in the rear? Kinda tired of my superbumps, you can definitely tell they are rubber/springy at full comp.

 

Their good for hard hits and jumps the difference your gonna notice is that the air bumps are set to a psi that if your going slow they won’t be much of a cushion since it’s not like rubber.

 

Probably rides a little better since its more "progressive" and probably less axle wrap! Mine hop like crazy on the street when a tire gets spinning, so definitely going to do an antiwrap leaf/track bar if I feel like doing that. Wouldn't mind a antiwrap bar to also use as a driveline slider

 

Mine hoped bad as well especially on steep climbs. Hoping this and tightening up the bypasses helps with the axle wrap but if it doesn’t I’m going to have to add a anti wrap bar as well but am trying to avoid it

 

speaking of leaf selection and axle wrap/hop.
Anyone go all the way down to just 2 leafs?
I think I'm ready to try it soon but wanted to hear if anyone thinks the axle wrap was unbearable with just 2 leafs.

Also, does NOONE make zinc or otherwise reasonable corrosion resistant coated 5/8x3.25" u bolts? I can't find any

 

They would just snap with the weight and power of these Tacomas haha. Plus, my 3 leaf pack sits perfectly flat already. With just 2 leafs the pack would definitely be negatived arched

 

this is ride height with some weight (not a ton) in the bed with 3 leafs for me



this much arch.


so kinda hoping pulling one leaf out will get it flatter.
