I had my 5K mile service yesterday. I paid for the oil change ($67) instead of taking it to the Auto Hobby Shop on Dover AFB. No issues reported! Next service at 10K includes oil change.

Occasionally, I slide under my '21 TRD Sport just to see how new everything is under there. I'll have to take a closer look at the axle seals on my next visual inspection.

Glad the OP went in for the 15K MX (Maintenance) and the seal is covered by warranty.

I had time to read my warranty book...you should see what's not covered in there! It's quite a bit of a list--you guys can see for yourselves since I don't wanna bore you with the details.

I had mine in for the 16,000km service and they discovered the right front axle seal leaking. Replaced under warranty and all good. Now at 47,000km.

About to replace the last idler pulley this weekend.

The one in the most convenient location BEHIND the oil housing.

Never thought id be replacing any idler pulleys on a truck with 50K, but here we are.

Ah, the ad hominem attack. The natural conclusion of having a conversation with a troll on the internet. How refreshingly delightful.

    What?

My taco has been flawless, so do 2 of my buddies with 17 sport and 19 off-road.

No doubt in my mind that my taco will go 300-400k miles with just regular maintenance.

Clearly a manufacturing error..or perhaps a PEBSASW issue

OK I'll be fair, that's a little unexpected.

Mine was the Panasonic OEM..my wife's 2005 Rav4 with the same battery lasted 11 years, not bad for a cold weather state.

Hers only drained once but I felt it was cheap insurance to just change it out right then, since she works late sometimes.

From what I remember there were a bunch during that period that suffered from a shorted cell. They made it right and upgraded me to a better battery.
Other than that not one issue in 5.5 years.

Was the lack of oil due to oil consumption? NOT that it's a real issue with Subarus, mind you. :-(

I DESPISE my local Subaru dealerships, here in the Dayton OH area. If they don't leave brake caliper bolts untorqued (so the bolts vibrate loose & disappear a while down the road), they leave wiring connectors undone after doing Takata airbag recalls, or lie repeatedly "oh!.....your brakes are almost down to the metal", when there's a good 1/4" of brake pad remaining.

Then again, Subaru made EXCELLENT engines, guaranteed to warp heads & blow head gaskets. Been there, got the T-shirt, paid $$$$thousands$$$$ for 3 out of the 7 Subies my family owned.

The "final straw" resulting in my abandoning Subaru (after 7 vehicles & 20 years) was when my 2013 Forester started gulping oil (due to crappy piston rings), despite proper oil changes with synthetic oil, as I'd done with all my previous Subies.

I'm enjoying my 2019 Tacoma TRD-OR.....so far. No weird failures.

I ACCEPT (as a former engineer who worked in the auto supplier industry for 22 years) that failures happen. What matters is HOW the manufacturer handles the design/manufacture/quality failures. I TRUST Toyota & Honda. I DESPISE Subaru.

Gotcha so you got it fixed free. That's all I would ever ask for.

Last piece is exactly how I feel, and why I won't buy a daily driver GM ever again.

Nothing on the ground, just the inside of the rim had oil on it. The dealer guy said it was OK to drive it till they got the parts in... Just try to do the least amount of driving as possible. They're replacing the seal and the brake shoes (Oil soaked, I'm assuming) on the one side. All under warranty.

Man that is brutal. I got lucky and it was a leaking oil pressure switch. The oil was running down the side of the engine so I initially confused it for a bad oil filter housing gasket. It was in for an airbag recall and they said how as a service they would do an inspection of the vehicle. And then let me leave only to get home and see the note on the work order that no oil was registering on the dipstick. I enjoyed by Impreza and it was good to me but nothing like owing a vehicle that feels like a ticking time bomb. I am glad to own a Toyota now lol.
