A ton of issues has been resolved in late 20 MY? I have an 18 and I have none of the “TW issues”. So do 2 of my buddies with 17 sport and 19 off road.

Had my truck for about 3 years now. I absolutely love it. Took it on a couple 9 hour road trips, about 500 miles and I found it to be very comfortable for me. I’m 5’11” 200# and got the sunroof, no issues with headroom at all.

For me there is plenty of power, even on the stock tune. Truck is quiet, smooth and gets advertised or better fuel mileage. The only thing that would make this truck absolutely perfect for me, would be about 6” more legroom in the back.

    Good luck!

just leased a 21 Tacoma. It’s a good deal and nice ride I had it for a overnight test drive. It’s much nicer inside than my 19 pro 4x frontier. My 2 choices ended up the TRD off-road Tacoma and Colorado zr2. Toyota was a better price

l have a 2021 Tacoma AC OR it is for lack of better way of putting it " very Mechanical "
the wife has a fully loaded 2021 5th gen Ram 1500 sport and it is very plush by comparison
if I was only using it for highway driving the Ram all day long!!! But I love my Tacoma for everyday driving around town and really love it off road. would i tow anything over 4000# with my tacoma probably not on a regular basis.
the ram sport is not anywhere near as off road capable as a Tacoma but the Tacoma is no where near what the Ram is on the highway
I know this is not exactly the answer you wanted but all I am saying is there are so many options out there to fill all your needs.
But to answer your original question YES Tacoma is the best Mid Size truck for many reasons Reliability Resale being the main ones
In the end don't get wrapped up in numbers HP/Torque and MOST importantly remember when test driving all vehicles will break in differently.
If you get a Tacoma the only upgrade i would strongly recommend is a Banks Pedal Monster..... makes the truck feel completely different. I was never much on throttle controllers until a Toyota/Nissan mechanic told me to get one!

Sure. Not everyone needs a full size though.

Also, for how long this 2.7 EB will outperform the taco? I already know which vehicle will last longer with regular maintenance.

I don’t hate on fords. I had a 2007 ranger and it was amazing. I was actually looking to buy 2018 Ford fx4 5.0 AC, but no MT option. I just don’t have the trust in the EB engines.

MPG is very dependent on the type of driving. I actually get excellent gas mileage and can often get 21-23 MPG at 70 MPH during my commute.

2021 Gmc 1500 3.0 Duramax. My dad has got 35+mpg on the highway, and averages 24 combined. Also tows 5k like it isn't there. I would have one right now if I didn't have to park in the city so much.

In the last 10 years I've:

Personally put over 100k miles on a 2nd Gen Tacoma (pictured in my Avatar) until it was rear ended and totaled.
Personally put over 130k miles on a 2011 Silverado LTZ. It has 293K miles and I still own it.
    Just purchased a 2021 Sport.

The Silverado is a MUCH better highway truck than either Tacoma. But it is also bigger and there are downsides to that. The Tacoma is a better fit now that I drive less, and I like the aesthetics of it more than any other midsize. I missed being in a Tacoma for some reason, even though the Silverado was a much better truck for long trips.

    Just food for thought.

That's with a 4x4 and the AC running with non-highway tires. I can get in the 25+ range at 60 MPH with those same conditions. But you aren't going to get much better from a naturally aspirated V6 without affecting aerodynamics. They've already done about as much as they could with the gearing without sacrificing the stance or aggressive look. Now, if you want to change it up to a turbo 4 cylinder or a hybrid engine, then you'll start seeing some change.

Best we saw out of it (hypermiling, drafting, all the tricks in the book) was 4.5l/100km over a 30km stretch lol. Granted, that was at 90kph, up a semis ass, barley breathing on the gas in 9th, but impressive none the less.

The 2.7 has proven to be reliable so far. Only been out since 15 though so not a ton with high miles. One dude on f150 forum has one with 400k + miles with no motor issues. Would be a killer motor in mid size truck.

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
My own buying decision was made real easy:

What mid-size pickup has a manual transmission option?

I’m sure the turbos are not original. Direct injection only as well, no thank you.

Tacoma is reliable, above the nissan and the domestic but Honda Ridgeline is a notch better...but it's not a real truck...

But the Ridgeline would be enough "truck" for 98% of the people that do buy trucks :spy:

I love my Taco and its versatility, but I don't think I would want to do 90 miles of freeway driving in it everyday. You may want something that's a little more comfortable and responsive for your particular criteria.

    A bunch..and no build thread!
As a guy who is less than a week into Tacoma ownership, I can say I love the damned thing. It rides like a truck, I like that, it's a truck. It looks amazing (IMHO probably the best looking of all the mid-size trucks out there). It's comfortable, but I am 5'10 and 230 pounds, so not a huge guy. It has all the bells and whistles (I have a TRD Off Road with the technology package) that I still haven't quite figured out (such adventure, many amazings) and if needed, I could go into the woods and be like those guys on the commercial with their dog and a fishing pole drinking coffee in the brisk morning air. I like that. But I have a Husky and that bastard sheds like it's his job and he is NEVER getting in the cab of my Taco.

    Apollo_001.jpg

No, Apollo, you will never be a Truck Dog.
