I recall reading that the manual transmission models are not offered with the JBL system. You might have gotten a premium head unit with the navigation, is that true? If so then I believe you have that plus normal speakers.

It takes all of 5 seconds for someone on here to tell you to upgrade with Kicker tweeters or whatever, but I don't know if the speaker efficiencies line up well enough with the stock head unit. Everyone seems to listen with their eyes since what they bought looks better, and they give a "day 1" review... If the efficiencies aren't compatible, get ready for a decrease in output. If you wanna upgrade and add an amp, forget what I just said.

Going to see if I need them after install. I get all my stuff below wholesale at like 5% over cost. Not trying to buy anything I can't get at a deep deep discount. Didn't feel like messing with stand alone crossovers either.

Hey Ryan, I recognize you from the perpetual factory order wait thread haha. Happy to hear you got your truck! If I remember, don't we have fairly similar builds.

And yeah, after further research, the manual transmissions don't come with the JBL audio. I talked to my car audiophile brother-in-law and he did confirm what has been said here that the JBL system is incredibly difficult to upgrade compared to stock audio.

After further assessment, I actually think the mid-tier "premium" audio is far worse than I originally heard. I think it's totally fine for listening to audio books, but I've found that the high end and the low end in these speakers are totally subpar.

The first chance I get to drop some money on a system upgrade I absolutely will.

Yes sir, I recognize you from the 2021 order thread as well, and I think our trucks are probably almost exactly the same… 21 dcsb trd off road premium 6mt in army green. I picked mine up Sunday night after the Seahawks loss, so that made my night a little better at least. However I haven’t driven it since Monday morning sadly because I drive a work truck during the week. But I looked through it the other day and noticed no jbl logo on the head unit and no subwoofer behind the passengers rear seat. This weekend I’ll be able to drive it more and really mess with some audio settings among other things and see how it actually sounds.

I know the MTs don't come with the JBL (thank God), but has anyone uncovered why? Not having push start, crawl control, MTM, and the like makes sense in the MT, but not the sound system.

I do not know about where you reside but you cannot get the JBL option if you have a manual transmission, not even in a Pro. Quite pathetic if you ask me. However, I've heard the JBL and am unimpressed. I am glad I have non-JBL premium and will upgrade everything myself.

Yah, I've also heard they are a pain in the ass to remove. My thought is that there must've been some interior difference between the MT and AT and they thought, "Hmmm, it would take us an extra 5 minutes to figure this out. We sell so few of these, so let's just give them shit speakers and a slight MSRP discount."

I just followed what folks on TW said... The Subaru tweets are made by Kicker.

From what I've seen you'd need to cut some aftermarket brackets for other tweeters out of ABS or some type of acrylic. Subaru tweeters bolt right in easily.

I just have a hard time believing any OEM speaker will beat aftermarket, but I also don't know a damn thing about these matters. I do know that Kicker makes some mighty fine speakers, however.

I am sure there are better tweeters out there but its nice having a plug and play upgrade. They're a bit costly so I am sure people would not recommend them if they were not worth it. Just my logic haha

As i finished replacing the rest of my crappy stock speakers this past weekend I noticed the OEM's are made by Pioneer. I thought Pioneer used to make good stuff... maybe this is just the bottom of the barrel.

They are direct fit and also have the correct/same resistance as the factory speaker. Any other speakers you would have to fab a small bracket for.
