As many may know, I am new to Tacoma ownership. I have recently acquired a black 2012 Texas addition 2.7L Prerunner SR5 with 200+K miles. She is in fine shape all things considered and I am enjoying self-performing the needed repairs and premaintenance efforts so far.

I have also been enjoying driving her daily back and forth to Austin (70 miles RT) to our work projects. Well, the other night as I came through the door my wife asked, what my buds thought of my new toy.

I told her that they thought she (my truck) was fine but what I enjoy most was all the trophy wives turning their heads and checking her and me out as I enter the high-end residential areas where most of our work takes place. She questioned with a REALLY???!!! and I pridefully replied, aha, really most do turn to see me coming and then watch as I pass.

Well, this went on until earlier this week when the weather turned off cool enough for a little cruising with the windows down enjoyment. Yeah, this is when I got my bobble busted and stopped wearing cologne to my construction job again.

My wife Angie told me she wanted to say something but she didn't have the heart. After all she hadn't seen this 57-year-old strut around like that in a long while. And too, I found out just how loved I was when the rest of the guys kept to them selfs the secret :gossip:that only they and whoever was on the street as I approached or drove with the windows down on a quiet street knew.
AND THAT IS!!!, THAT MY TRUCK SQUEAKS LIKE HELL!!! I MEAN LIKE HELL!!! :annoyed:

Yeah, there's a question attached. What bushings are replaceable that would help to STOP THIS from happening. Is the cause worn-out bushings?

And are there complete all-inclusive bushing kits for our trucks? If so who makes the best quality and what would one expect to pay?

Please forgive the dramatization, it is all in fun, though there is some truth behind the story.

    Peace-Love & Tacos

    Find what's squeaking, fix it.

We don't know, because the electrons of the intrawebz haven't brought us the truth.

(check your belts first, leaf springs second, brakes third)

When does it squeak and where does it sound like it is coming from

Ex. Moving, stopped, over bumps, turning etc.?

Thanks, I should offer that it is in the suspension. All of the engine belts, Brakes etc. have been gone through. I feel sure that it is whatever bushings would normally have this effect. You can park with the engine not running and make the truck make the noises by putting weight on and off of nerf bars.

Start by squirting soapy water on one location at a time till the squeek stops, then examine/repair that part.

I'll bet on the leaf springs. And there are a plethora of solutions around here that will work quite well.

IF you can't isolate it to an area, one place I would start would be the rear leaf packs. Hose them down with some penetrating oil and go for a cruise. Spray between the leafs as well as you can and really drench the stack. If that doesn't do anything, I'd look next at the front sway bar bushings.
Let us know what you find!
    Oh, and good story Bro.

That's a good idea for sure, can't think of much more revealing than the process of elimination. I saw a video the other day where a guy replaced the cab bushings. I'll find it and post the link would these be suspect? If not what is the purpose of their replacement?
