Shot in the dark, since I have NEVER seen one anywhere. Anyone running a cap with a rack on the cab but NOT on the shell?

Considering this setup but just not sure if it's going to look really strange.

Sounds like you don’t need a rack.

It looks good but I definitely wanna get a full rack so I can carry stuff up there.

Are we gatekeeping racks now? I need one... not sure if I need the one on the shell. But I would spring for it if I thought just the front rack looked idiotic.

I think it’s funny when people try to bring “need” into this. As if anyone actually needs any of the aftermarket stuff on these trucks. Or a truck to begin with

The roof is only rated for like 100lbs dynamic. It’s one of the most expensive and unused mods we typically see. I mean you do you man and get what you want but you may find better use on a topper.

Since you were focused on looks it seemed more like you didn’t need one.

I appreciate the insight on the dynamic weight rating. But "focused on looks" isn't exactly correct. It's a unique situation and the looks is really related to a single rack versus full.

I have to disagree with the generalization that no one needs a truck. When I lived in Vermont I needed a 4x4 or I wasn't going anywhere from October to April, and a truck was the least expensive way to get that. Some people need towing capacity, some people need to haul things for work. In some cases (like mine in Vermont) there may be options that meet the need other than a truck, but they choose the truck option for whatever reason. Not everyone who buys a truck buys one just because they wanna be cool.

Do people need to spend $1000 on a roof rack to store some maxtraxx that are never used? I think thats what he's poking at. Most people are just buying mods because they look cool. There are people who have way more mods than I do and don't even wheel.

You got opinions all over this forum, don’t you? Maybe who cares if this guy gets a rack or not? He wasn’t asking your opinion if you think he needs one. He asked if people had pic of a rack on a cab. Chill out and live your own life? What the hell do you care if he gets a roof rack and doesn’t use it?

Then click "ignore" pal, makes no difference to me, I'll happily do the same. I don't care what the dude does, it's his truck, did you miss the part where I said
I'm just trying to help the dude out given how many people come to TW to cry about their mistakes, the wrong advice, etc

I get it. That's why I leave the mods to the off-road folks. The stuff I buy for my truck fall more into the accessory category. My truck is my daily driver and I have it to be able to tow my motorcycle, but it will never see more than a dirt or gravel road. That said, if someone wants to buy something for their truck because it looks cool, go for it. Everyone should enjoy their Taco.

Nice, I'm more of a minimalist depending on what I'm doing but who doesn't love a nice rack ;)

Already did . But you’re not “helping” him out. You’re giving an opinion of what you think he should not have on his truck when he didn’t ask you.

OP…. I used the shit out of the rack on my cab. Up to and sometimes over its rating. Hell, I was standing on my cab rack this morning. If you want it get it. And use it. To be fair though, I had a cab rack and camper shell rack both, so I don’t have a pic to add to the discussion.

Your unique situation probably isn’t that unique and if you ask the more direct question you might be able to get a smarter answer.
