Good luck! Seems like a lot of work compared to just buying a 4x4 truck but I’m lazy lol

If you're in Florida, I'll have a transfer case with actuator hopefully within the relatively near future. I already have my FJ case just need to get twin stick parts and do the mods.

Sorry guys forgot to mention that i am from Minnesota and my tacoma is an 08. Not exactly sure what car parts i can take that will be interchangeable with my tacoma. My tacoma has sentimental value to me so i dont think i could sell or trade it in lol

When I married my wife 37 years ago I promised to love and keep her till death do us part. I've kept that promise, but I make no such promise when I buy a gun or a vehicle. If you want to get emotionally attached to your wife or a dog that is fine. But letting emotions come into play with a bucket of bolts is a mistake that could cost you financially. There comes a time where it is best to let it go.

What you want to do can be financially feasible if you do the work yourself. But at best it is a break even proposition financially. If you're paying someone do the work it isn't a good idea.

Well my questions now is... will the v6 transfer case work with the 2.7 awd trans? And would it matter if the transfer case was from an auto and what not?

Only way that makes sense cost wise is to do it yourself and source the parts individually or from a junk yard. Best headache-less method to couple with DIY-ing the project is to have an entire donor vehicle with all required drivetrain components intact and perform a direct swap of parts.

You will need to weld up a new transmission crossmember and re route exhaust piping on driver side as the 4x4 transmission mounts at a lower point and is overall larger with transfer case mounted.

I highly recommend you doing the ADD delete with FJ tube swap and manual transfer case (FJ) so you rid the loathsome transmission electronics that regularly fail.

Other than requiring some mechanical knowledge, simple welding and some minor wiring its not a complicated swap.

That being said, It took me quite a long amount of time to acquire this puppy, RST rebuilt and twin stick converted FJ manual transfer case. It was one of the main components I endlessly scoured the internet for...

I have attempted to contact numerous times but was able to source this one a few hours away from a TW member. I got very lucky and his asking price was very reasonable

Don't listen to the haters, lol! I'm the same way, I saw my truck "born" the day it rolled off the delivery truck at the dealership brand new and since then spent more than double the purchase price on it making it the way I want it. Don't worry about if it makes " financial since" if your building the truck you want. I might hand mine down when the time comes, but I'll never sell her! :)
