You’re overthinking it. The roll in will work just fine.

Thanks perkj. Are the SS ones you bought from tnutz still going strong? I have 14 in my cart and a set of 10 of the SS eye loops from a different Amazon seller. The ones you linked to are out of stock but found and other SS supplier with good reviews.

I will be using this tie down system on my rack so thank you for providing this great information! A question, my local hardware store only had 1/4" ID rubber washers and did not have nylon. To avoid ordering a bunch off Amazon, I am hoping these will suffice as a substitute. Any thoughts on replacing the nylon washer with a rubber washer?

The nylon will likely last longer especially through temperature cycles. Rubber will degrade.

Good point. We certainly have our fair share of temperature cycles here in Colorado. Just tracked down another store that carries them so will grab the nylon. Appreciate the prompt reply!

I ordered the t nuts from the ebay link in this listing (M6x1.0 Roll-In T-Nut w/Ball Spring). They are slightly wider than the opening of the slot, which is a little less than 5/16". The t nuts are about 3/8th" wide, where as the bolts that came with my prinsu hardware are about 9/16" wide. Was I sent the wrong size, or is this what you guys got? I feel a lot less confident about ratchet strapping stuff down to my roof rack using these, than I do with the original hardware. I'm no engineer, but I can tell by looking, that these t nuts will take less force rip through the slot than something that had more overlap. Do they make a wider t nut for the aluminum extrusion Prinsu uses? Do you guys trust these 3/8" wide t nuts?
