Just got in my new moderate angle CVJ axles. Was wondering anyone that has already installed on their 2nd gen taco have to adjust red inner boot w/ 3" lift kit?20211004_172226.jpg 20211004_172200.jpg

I have them installed and I didn’t have to adjust anything. I’ve had them on two years now and I’ve had no issues.

@Bluebaron7 Thanks I appreciate it. How do you like them so far performance wise. Have you done any off roading?

    adjust?

These are in my future, I think.
Lifted 2"+. So far no tear. But I hear tear happens first time you off road with the new lift.

That being said, I heard the red ones have an adapter piece. And that besides that, it seems you just clamp them on.
I would wonder if the company has installation instructions or any opinion as to where to place the clamp position.
Because their other option is you buy the whole axle that they already rebooted. So whoever they have in-house installing the boots surely has some sort of knowledge regarding where to place them.

Because at least with an OEM axle (on any car), you'll notice the boot is never too short, but also not too long.
It's much easier replacing a torn stock boot on a car with the same version part,
because you simply mark or take a picture of where the old boot and clamps were, and then copy that to install the new part.
But with this one being longer, I don't know if it clamps to the same position.
Sometimes axles/joints also have ridges built into them to hold a boot, where the boot sits specifically.

I'd reach out to the seller/company.
It would sound very odd if someone made a different aftermarket part, and then zero guidance on how it's supposed to be installed.

That's exactly how independent performance shops work, a thousand miles from the company that made the part, installing it for a customer.
They open the box and read the instructions.
Kind of odd that a company would have no instructions at all.

If they assembled the axle like that and you bought it as a whole thing, then you probably don't need to do anything.
Most of the time, axle boot clamps cannot be moved without destroying them.

they either rip or they don't...

I have the same CVJ axles inner red boot. They'll be 2 years old this Thanksgiving. No issues. No adjustment on boot spacing.

@TacoTuesday1 I completely agree with you 100%. Don't understand why I would have to adjust the inner boot. CVJ site states that individual lifts are different in there own way. Which the adjustment will vary to accommodate distinct set ups.

Have had the same setup on mine for a year now, no problems. Running fox 2.5 extended travel coilovers set to around 2-1/2". Just make sure there's clearance between the ribs of the boots with the truck at normal ride height.

@Bishop2Queens6 That's good to hear. I was just getting mixed thoughts on why there would be a need for adjustment. Don't really see what would interfere with the axle for it to be messed with. In order for proper functionality.

Depending on your lift, the angle of the CV may cause some of the fins on the boot to rub resulting in premature wear. You remedy this by adjusting the CV boot length on the axle shaft. I didn't have to since my lift is pretty mild at 2.5", but some have to. Just take it on a case by case basis.

@BadAndy10 Yeah I know on the site says need 1/8"-1/4" clearance between all ribs. Also to make sure there is no rubbing. Roll truck forward a few times to make sure of it. Thanks!

i was not happy with my cvj axles. same ones it the first post. outer boot lasted maybe 2 1/2 years. no fins rubbing. there outer boot is not like stock. on the website it even says oem like boot. waste of money. just re booted myself and oem is way different. more like hard plastic not cheap rubber that cracked and blew its wad all over.

@burboni Damn that sucks wish there was a way to know if boot is OEM or NOT when receiving new axles. To stop customers getting ripped off on thinking they are getting OEM.

Same as a regular CV install, I’ve yet to break my factory driver side CV. Once it does break I’ll be going with CVJ again

At that price im guessing OEM CV's? Ive only broken one and it was mainly due to having a boot let go and continuing to run it with my front locker
