Well, a big kick in the reality ass.
Apparently when I was out hunting the other day one
of the neighbors went out too. (Not sure of time frame)
Never saw him, or tracks, or anything.
Wife just texted me a story they found him dead out there..
So maybe he went out after I came back, not sure.
No emergency vehicles seen or heard..
I’d be really pissed at myself if I walked by close and never saw him..
    Just makes you think.

Damn sorry to hear but nothing you could have done.

Always tell wife or friends where you are hunting and what time you expect to be back.

Apparently that’s what he did cause his neighbor went out and found him. So if he was on the main trail he had to go after me cause I walked that whole trail, like 2 miles, and no other human tracks in the mud. The main trail is really wet right now.

I carry my garmin mini at all times even when on my own land plus we use the find my friends app.

sorry that happened to you mike. Nothing you could have done. My grandfather died that same way. Walked out to hunt, sat down at a tree, then had a heart attack.

I was gonna say that but didn’t want to come off as insensitive. But, now that you’ve broke the ice.. I really can’t think of a better way to go than sitting under a tree waiting on something to come my way.

That's how I'd like to go, a merciful death. On the ground though, not in my treestand. There are worse ways to go doing what you love. A buddy of my college roommate acquired vibrio while fishing his favorite spot in Lake Pontchartrain four months ago. Went into the hospital the next day and is still there. He is not expected to survive. There are blessed ways to leave this earth while doing what you love. Sadly, a flesh-eating bacteria is not one of them.

My Georgia buddy has been hunting a big 10pt; the other day it walked right behind him and he never saw it. You can see the fellers legs in the tree.

It's a trail cam pic. He said he was awake but was facing the other way. I have my doubts.
