Any 3rd Gen Tacoma owners entertaining a 2022 Tundra?

After some thought I “pre-ordered” a 2022 Tundra Pro with the Hybrid 3.5 V6 TT powertrain at the end of last month. My local dealer took a fully refundable deposit at MSRP to place the order when dealership allocations become available.

I was informed that the Pro will come in four colors. White, black, Lunar Rock and Solar Octane. With the Hybrid powertrain from Lexus LS500 I am expecting official fuel economy numbers to increase roughly 40% over the 2021 V8 model. Official fuel economy and MSRP numbers should be out shortly.

 

Not a third gen guy but I'll be getting a 23' in 24' once they've worked year 1 bugs out and I can get one slightly used.

 

Been thinking about it but I’m guesstimating that the trd pro will run 65-75k. And it’ll still get shit mpg due to enormous size

 

No. The reasons I chose a Tacoma over Tundra this time around have not changed.

 

If I ever need a full-size truck… that would be the one. Entertained an ecoboost F150 Fx4 over the taco but just didn’t need something that large (that’s what she said).

Unlike domestic manufacturers Toyota usually only has minor kinks/bugs in the 1st year that are jumped on pretty quickly. The engine and 10-speed tranny was first used in the 2018 Lexus LS 500 and both have been trouble free. Toyota also wrote the book on hybrids, so no worries there either.

The rumor is that Toyota will start production of the gasoline Tundra in November and start Hybrid production in late spring of next year. I don’t expect to take delivery for another year.

I had originally planned on purchasing a new 2022 Raptor but after reading the forums I just can’t pull the trigger due to ongoing QC issues.

 

Does anyone here know for sure they actually ordered a Pro yet? I cant add the order in the computer at my work for Pro, any other model in the new Tundra yes but there is no Pro option yet. Thanks

Not ordered, on the dealership waiting list (MSRP) until 2022 orders can be placed.

 

The current 2021 4WD V8 CrewMax Tundra Pro starts at $55k and gets 13/16 mpg. My guesstimate is $58k for the 2022 model and much better fuel economy thanks to the Hybrid drivetrain. Dismal fuel economy was a large complaint from current owners. Hey, it only took Toyota 15 years to redesign the Tundra

Yep, and raptors are basically mostly 75-85, and trxs are 70-95k even at 65-75 for the tundra it’s still undercutting by 1000s

 

I have a fully refundable deposit. I’m still waiting on official MSRP numbers from Toyota corporate to be released.

 

To put in perspective a base 800a 2021 V6 Raptor is $64,145 plus a $1,695 destination fee. Ford increased the price of a 2022 Raptor by $350.

 

Exactly, so why would you think a 2022 Tundra PRO which has waayyyyyy more standard options than a 800 spec'd Raptor, be less than $60k?...

 

Toyota’s are known for their value. I guesstimated a 6% price increase over a 2021 Pro, so $58,300 for the base model. We will have official pricing very soon.

 

I bought my Tacoma specifically because I didn't want a full-size truck, so no, I won't be "upgrading".

 

Trd pros are fully loaded … high packaged f150 is at least 71,990
