I'm going to do a Major service on my 09 DCSB and was just wondering if I am forgetting anything? I've kept up will all minor service at every 5k. I've also going to replace all the gaskets on the drain/fill plugs.

    Current Mileage: 112K

    What has been done:
-Front Rotors, Front Pads, Rear Shoes 75K
    -Battery 75K
    -Transmission Flush 100K

    Planning at 120K:
    -Engine Oil/Filter change
    -Air Filter change
    -Throttle body cleaning
    -MAF sensor cleaning
    -Spark Plugs change
    -Coolant Flush
    -Power Steering Flush
-Serpentine Belt change (no cracks or splits on the OEM one though...)
-Front Diff/Transfer case/rear diff gear oil change
    -Grease U-joints

    Possible considerations:
    -Brake fluid flush
-Replace brake lines (no cracks or rot on OEM)
-Replace water pump (More preventative maintenance than anything else, everything OK so far)
-Replace idler pully's and belt tensioners (More preventative maintenance than anything else, everything OK so far)

Please add your input or perspective on what I should do or shouldn't do.

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
You'll be safer with new idler pulleys although I ran mine for 175k and they were making noise. Be prepared to replace your rear brake drums and your E brake cables. That's just about when they go.

No play, no rattling. I've been worrying about my wheel bearings also but so far, no noise to hard pulls

Mostly stock - but I do have a suction cup phone holder - its pretty sweet
I know this is LONG ago - but how did the service go? Completed any more?

I am at 194K and about to do something similar to what you have outlined.

    Talk about thread revival.

So I'm currently at 307K miles and have had to do a much more services between the service I outlined in this thread at 120K and what I am right now at 307K miles.

Looking at my service history, since I track my miles for work. It was just typical wear parts and follow the service intervals (minor 5k-oil changes, etc. and major 30k-sparkplugs/diff/trans, etc.) for several years after this. I had no issues with any parts until I crossed the 250K mile mark in 2018. The truck was 10 years old at this point.

I don't recall the specifics but generally this is what I have had to do between then and now:

150k miles: LCA replacement to Moog (bushings went bad. It's easier to replace the LCA assembly than to remove and repress bushings in the OEM LCA)

250K miles, Dec 2018: Brake master cylinder, right rear wheel bearing, transmission output shaft seal. Energy suspension radiator mounts.

260k miles, July 2019: Carrier bear and drive shaft u-joints, A/C shrader valves, A/C recharge, HVAC blower fan motor, water pump, radiator cap

270k miles, Nov 2019: CV axles, both sides. Front wheel bearings, both sides

280k miles, Oct 2020: Replaced transmission filter, cleaned trans pan magnets, upgraded trans cooler, transmission flush to Valvoline Max Life

285k miles, Nov 2020: LCA replacement (bushings went bad so I replaced with Moog LCA assemblies). Energy suspension body mounts.

300k miles, June 2021: Sway Bar End Links

Do note: I am based in SoCal, a rather dry area of the state. No road salt. I'm also a high mileage driver. I was averaging about 30k miles/year up until I purchased a 2nd truck to split the mileage on in July 2019, so my mileage and timings won't be close to what you might experience. I run Icon front and rear shocks and I get those serviced/rebuilt every 50k.

I am at just over 200k and keeping it for the long run. Other than the paint falling off, I am good. At what point do you throw in the towel on a truck......

And are you doing the work, or having a shop do it.

Just askin, thanks for your time.

Most of the big stuff like wheel bearings, u-joints, water pump I took to a shop. The basic stuff, oil changes, brakes, I DIY.

My wife and I have only recently discussed getting rid of the Tacoma since it may not fit our lifestyle when we move for a new job for myself. Most people keep the Tacoma until it doesn't help live the life you have/want. It will stay in the family as I'll give it to my sister so she can do the overlanding lifestyle.

Sounds like your sister is the big winner, good luck in the new job. I just started one too, well kinda, I retired in July after 41 years in Airport work.
