Need help with retrofit adjustment- crooked projectors??

Recently purchased some retrofits from a member here that had these built but never got around to installing them.

I wired everything up and they work great, but the right passenger projector seems very slanted and crooked. The driver side is a bit slanted too. After spending an hour trying to adjust the height/width each way i realized the projector beam itself is slanted. I can adjust the beam but no matter which way I adjust the light stays crooked.

Can someone with retrofit knowledge give me an idea of what the issue is? Is this a rotational issue of the projector itself and how would I go about fixing that?

Wow. That is horrible to put it mildly. You need to take the headlights apart, which involves baking them in the oven to remove the lens, then remove the projectors from the assembly and reinstall them level. There are no adjustments to fix non-level projectors.

 

Did not have to do any of that. Simply rotated the back of the projectors with pliers and fixed it within 2 minutes.

 

Well that is a relief! However the projectors shouldn’t be able to rotate, they should be fixed, so your projectors are not appropriately attached. Otherwise they may rotate out of position over time. I’d look into locking them in place somehow now that you have them leveled.

 

I agree- but looking at the back of them it seems they have the correct mounting bracket and have paste sealing them. Weird. It wasn’t too easy to rotate them- might wait and see if normal driving rotates them at all

 

Most projectors come with H4 adapter rings to hold them in the correct position.
