Has anyone reserved 4 banger in transit to dealer during this recent shortage?

A dealer about an hour and 15 minutes from me wants $500 refundable deposit to reserve 4x4 Access Cab that is suppose to arrive by end of this month. Their website shows over a dozen Tacos in transit, but only 2 Access Cabs, the other is 4x2, which I am interested in too and would like to use in getting best price. Wondering if a 4 cylinder is in such demand, that it requires $500 reserve with so many 4x4 V6 DC suppose to arrive too. I need to test drive it, plus negotiate my trade. I feel if I reserve it, they hold an even bigger hammer over me. Seems like not many Access Cabs in transit in my area, and in the colors I want.

 

I think pretty much all Tacomas are in high demand and low in supply right now, so a $500 refundable deposit does not seem unreasonable at all. It all depends on how much you want a Tacoma right now.
