Now here is a man that has his priorities in order! I already got a nice custom shop Frampton signature Les Paul, so would spend this new found axe money on one of those James Burton Tele's with the flames on it!

Woah that’s a sick LP to have! 3 pickup? Essentially a black beauty?

I’ve had my eye on one of the 50s/60s standards since the new lineup debuted. I’m between that and a gretsch 6120 type.

Get yourself a tele, I have two and they’re just so, so, so good!

Depends where youd like to end up. Id start with a proper lift first but thats because I wanted to wheel mine and take it on amazing trips, which I have.

To the OP; sorry for hijacking your thread; but we are talking about electric guitars here! :)

Yeah, my Frampton LP is a serious tone machine with those three humbuckers. It is wired so that the middle pickup set is always hot and has it own's volume knob. This allows you to dial it in and out as needed for different tones with the bridge and neck pickups. Mine is from the original issue from the custom shop, but they just released a new version this year if you have the spare coin!

Oh, and I already have a nice Tele, just have always loved that James Burton model. Nothing sounds like a Telecaster; an American workhorse since 1950! Leo got it right on the first try.

Haha yeah, this can be the last hijack post if ya want, guitars just frickin rule. That middle pickup blend sounds like the right way to go with three humbuckers, that can be a bit muddy "on paper", but how you describe it's function is all aces! I'm glad you already have your tele too, they are irreplaceable! I rewired my SG standard with the insane "21 tone Jimmy Page" scheme, only half of it is useful, but it's still fun! Single coil neck and full humbucker bridge, in series, is seriously unfair :D

To help out the actual topic on this thread, the TRD OR is already a great truck. Drive it for a few thousand miles before spending a few thousand more dollars on it. I've found that my tri-fold soft tonneau cover, bed cleats, the bed mat, and a shit load of ratchet straps have taken care of me thus far. Maybe one of the fitted sun shades is worth mentioning too, and a Kurgo rear seat protector for the dogs. I don't need additional clearance, suspension travel, or a new wheel/tire spec, all of which costs more than $1500 anyway. Go the accessory route for more than $1k less, save the money, and find out what you need over the course of a year or two.

Post a fun hypothetical on an enthusiast forum and you get nonsense about paying down your car loan.
I bet those guys are loads of fun at the bar watching the Giants beat LA.

It's like when I get a bonus at work. It's a bonus, you didn't expect it. Go spend it on something you really want. YOLO
For $1500 I would do a front bumper. SSO or C4. Although it really sucks waiting for it.

I have a nice mid 70's sunburst Rickenbacker 4001 and one day I will learn to play it properly. It was a left to me when I was a little kid by my Uncle (who I am named after), he was a studio musician before he passed.

If the government was handing out $1,500 that you could only spend on tacoma parts... I'd slap on some pro rims quicker than shit.

I'll throw my $0.02 in. I have found the best investment into my truck has been into the comfort and driveability.

My top mods that have made me the most happy:
    • Locking, rolling tonneau cover $850
    • New wheels $700
    • Ceramic window tint including windshield $200
    • Sound deadening in doors and rear bulkhead $200
    • Bilstein 5100 shocks $350
Out of all the mods on my truck, I would say these are my top 5. I do have a 2nd gen and not a 3rd gen, but that shouldn't matter. I'm also running Icons now and got rid of the 5100's a long time ago, but I do remember the leap from stock to 5100 shocks was mind blowing. Going from 5100's to Icons wasn't as shocking.

Dude, that it awesome and Ricks are fantastic guitars! Would love to see a picture of yours if you have one. And it would really honor your uncle's legacy for you to learn how to play that thing! You will never regret the time you invest in playing music; it is very good for the body and soul.

Hey, Tom Petty was a big Rickenbacker fan. Learn these three open chords and play them in this order: D, A, E (4 times), then G, D, A (again 2 times), then repeat the first part again. Congrats, you just learned how to play most of Tom's "You Wreck Me Baby"! :)
