Just buy a spare hub assembly and keep it in your truck. It's not like you're going to ever need a spare hub or CV when it's convenient (like the autozone parking lot) you'll be miles into the back country and hours from the trail head to autozone.

I was considering buying this kit as I didn't think going with the weaker 26/ 28 spline would be an issue for me since I don't go off road.

But once I seen the OP customer service- There was no way I was buying anything from him.

Surprised Tacoma World lets him act this way.

Are you combining manual hubs with the 934’s or whatever they’re called from JDFab?

Won't hold up to what I'll put them through. But yes that was my thought. I also have the ADD delete tube from an FJ to throw in. Now I'm thinking JD 934 joint custom axle and spindle set with selectable hub D44.

Yep and bearing set up is small not to mention the manual hub system is small. It's more meant for dirt road trucks I would say

Those first gen hubs are pretty bullet proof, but second gen spindles are garbage. If you're going to do it right a d44 outer and 934 inner is the way to be.

If you're not going to fab a custom spindle though, this kit on a JD Fab reinforced spindle would be the way to roll, IMO.

Are you referring to the bearing pictured above that sits just inside the bronze bushing?

To be less confusing in my reply, when I say hub I am referring to the wheel hub which the wheel bolts to, not the manual locking hub.

This sounds similar to the problem I and others had. The hub bore for the inner needle bearing was machined too small, but just ever so slightly so it isn’t easily noticed. When assembled, it would take the required bearing clearance away and destroy the bearing while driving. When you assembled it, and rolled the wheel, it had a slight drag on it while rolling, and it would try to pull the wheel hub and outer cv shaft together towards eachother, this wiped out the inner bronze piece on my truck.

I solved mine by purchasing multiple dorman wheel hubs and using one that did not have any drag on it when you put the cv shaft in it. They are chinese parts so its a 50/50 if you get a good one or not.

    https://www.offroadsolutions.com/products/category/drivetrain/

This is where I got a replacement bearing and bronze pieces if you want to try this route. The problem is if the hub is machined incorrectly replacing this bearing will result in the same problem.

I would recommend doing some troubleshooting to make sure this is your issue, and if so, buying a whole replacement wheel hub like above. Checking the fit of your cv shaft and the hub on the workbench is how I solved it. Might have to order a few to find one that works.

You could also use oem 1st gen tacoma wheel hubs assuming your cv shaft was machined correctly. The outer CV shafts supplied were also made in china by
“YUHUAN HUMBM C.V.JOINT&TRIPOD JOINT CO.,LTD.” , so quality control could be an issue on those as well.
