    The 2011 Kawasaki Ninja 250 and 2011 Honda CBR250R are excellent beginner motorcycles for both male and female riders to learn on. The low seat height is also a favorite. You can also use lowering links if required so they can flat foot easily. Also, the insurance is very low due to the 250cc displacement. If you are over 50 years of age, check out the AARP membership discount with Hartford Insurance or GEICO Insurance.

    these are great starter bikes with enough power so your not trading it in after 2 months.
    love mine and cant wait till riding season again.

    oh and get her the right gear and training and she will do fine.

    Definitely have her sign up for an MSF class. Not only is it a great way to learn how to ride safely in the world of crappy drivers in giant SUVs and such, but it's also one of the easiest ways to get your endorsement if you're a beginner.

    Some people strip their bike of fairings, headlights, turn signals, etc. when learning in empty parking lots, but honestly taking an MSF class is really as much parking lot practice you need to get started if you're a quick learner.

    Props to letting your wife have a go at your bike :thumbsup:

    What he said^^^I'm also a member of the kawifourms (09 ZX6R)...although I spend most my time on TW. Whenever one of my friends tells me that they want to get a bike I tell them to take the MSF class before they make any decisions. The class provides;
    1. A bike (avoid learning on your precious)
    2. any gear one might need (excluding boots and a long-sleave shirt and avoid buying expensive riding gear...costly if you don't end-up with a bike.)
    3. the fundamentals of riding

    after this class people are either more pumped to ride or as my wife put it, "ehh..." most importantly they are ready to ride safe.

    so the course in the states is optional?
    in Manitoba we HAVE to take a 21 or 8 hour couse to get it, which i think is a good idea. but we have to bring our own helmet , jacket, gloves, and boots.

    Yeah, Optional California...I think it should me mandatory for ALL california licensed drivers, all driver would benefit from the safety course (You'll never understand a motorcyclist unless you are one.) once you complete the MSF course all you will need to get your class M is to take the written test at the DMV. If you don't take the MSF course you'll have to take the driving portion at the DMV (I've heard its rather difficult.)
