Just bought the 2011 Access cab and due to a dealer screw up I wound up with the upgraded stereo with the subwoofer. The output on this stereo is the worst I have ever experienced in a stock stereo. When I hit max volume as indicated on the head unit, its far from what I am used to as max volume. Any comments ?? Thx

Full custom stereo, onboard air compressor, train horns, spacer lift, 30" tires, optima yellow top, rear slider window & tailgate anti-theft mod, pop & lock, class 3 tow hitch, lights in bed, Ultra Gauge, Weather Tech mats, yellow fog lights, camper top, air lift rear airbags, rear diff breather mod, soon to be more...
Stock stereos in trucks are awefull, seems like only high end vehicles come with something that truly sounds good. I spent 5k on mine and it sure sounds good now, lol :D

Put in a nice Alpine CDA-117 and you'll be all set. Better sound, much louder, plus a real iPod input (not the cheap aux. jack) that will show Artist, Song, Playlist etc. right on the head unit screen.

Yeah the stock max volume is comical... An aftermarket HU will do wonders for the stereo

The head unit has a built in device to tone down the bass and treble the higher the volume gets. Like on mine the sound drops out at 40. To me it sounds like 40 is louder than 62 or whatever the max is. The only way to get around it is change the head unit out.

I have a 2010 Access Cab and spent the past two months fighting with Toyota on the quality of their radio. Even talked to the folks at Delphi and they said it's the same volume engine since 2007 so they said it's something the Toyota engineers did but Toyota won't admit to it. I just put in a JVC unit using the Metra dash kit and now, instead of having to be at 30 for normal volume I'm down to 12 and now have IPOD controls with the USB port on the unit (using the aux for my IPOD was even worst in the stock unit).

My 07 sucked really bad. I took the stock unit out and put in a Alipne. It lights up red and matches really good. I put 6.5 eclpise speakers in the doors...sounds great now. Te stock speakers are so bad/cheap, it amazing any sound comes out.

The JBL system is garbage. I have it in my 2011. I'm gutting it hopefully tomorrow, if anyone wants to buy the 2011 JBL factory deck, with bluetooth and aux input, and the JBL sub and AMP. Let me know. My truck has 123 miles on it, so the stereo is basically un-used.

I'll be putting in the Pioneer AVIC920BT, a marv box from my 2008, 10" sub, alpine PDX amp, and alarm system. Door speakers will be replaced down they road a bit, though the suck too.
