    Currently have 265/75/16 wildpeak AT3W.

I'm torn between either G003's or Wildpeak MT in 255/85/16

The G003 are about 5 lb lighter per corner, and I've heard they're among the best MT for street manners. The Wildpeak are $20 less per tire, and I have 0 complaints with my current wildpeaks. but I dig the look and lightness of the G003.

Are there any 16" pizza cutter all terrains I'm glancing over? I end up in snow sand and monsoons as much as I do slick rock loose gravel and mud.. so a MT really isn't always ideal. Or is there an MT that's better than others in the snow?

Oh.. and if you had to pick skinny tall MT no locker or current AT with locker, which is going to prevail? Ya boi ain't rich enough for both at once.

I really don't know how significant the weight impacts fuel economy, but I know that it does. I'd be willing to bet that you make up the $20 less per tire in fuel savings over the life of the tires.

At first, I didn't think this was a serious question, but then I thought about how expensive tires can get and realized that there is a good chance it is. That said, the locker will do you better in a sticky situation.

Exact same scenario as me, im leaning towards wildpeaks since the geos went up to 250 a pop recently. I figure the MT tread is similar enough to the AT the performance should be pretty close even though the compound is different. I guess we'll find out soon enough lol. The wildpeaks being cheaper and lighter is whats pushing me rn

Have you considered a hybrid? Like the Open Country RT?

So I chose the G003 because they're the best performer in all conditions according to reviews. Mud, snow, sand, wet, and quiet on asphalt. Plus their lower weight is pretty sweet. The runner up is the Toyo MT, but it's snow and wet performance was rated lower. I don't think I'll run into much snow or slush here in California (unless this damn drought goes away) but if I do I will definitely chime in.

I had 33 x12.5 ko2 mt on my fj and was not impressed in heavy snow at all. Now on the taco went with 275/55/17 Hankook at3 all terain. Tread is still agressive but not as nobby and thinner to cut through the crap not float on top

I guess I COULD do both, I just don’t want to. I’ve got a 5.0 getting the sink thrown at it in the meantime

but no joke tires ain’t cheap. My friend complained it cost like $700 otd for high end Michelin’s on his CRV. Must be niceeeeee

There's going to be a prolonged rubber shortage because of loss of rubber trees across southwest asia. Add that to supply chain issues, and expect choices to decrease and costs to rise for the next few years.

These two tires will perform completely different!! I used to run the Toyo MT 255's and now run the AT3W 255's, they both feel great when new, the MT is clearly better off the pavement in anything slick, the AT are wearing better and still driving great on the road whereas the MT's road performance will degrade faster for road use, rotations will be more critical with the MT for good wear. Whoever above mentioned the Toyo RT has the middle ground, same with the Cooper ST Maxx. I have also had the ST Maxx, they seemed to last a long time, I was doing a 5 tire rotation. Next spring I plan to try the new Toyo AT if available, and would consider the RT also, but if not I wouldn't go MT again on a DD truck and will just get more AT3W's.

Man, I could talk tires all day long.. My Ex used to ask me if I would leave her for tires one day... hhmmm....

Interesting. When in snow up in northern New Mexico, I walked around fine in 6-8" of powder whilst my friend with AT3Ws got stuck a number of times. With that said, snow use is not common for us but that trip had me feeling pretty dang good about my ST MAXX

the at3w's have the diamond peaks so they SHOULD do reasonably well. They worked well for me in flagstaff but I have nothing to compare to.

I'm most disappointed no (edit: ok almost no) AT or hybrids do skinny 33's (edit: in 16") :(

What’s your interpretation of an AT or Hybrid? I’d have to tactfully disagree.

The options are not bountiful and are more in the 17” flavor, but to say no AT and hybrid skinny 33s are out there isn’t accurate.
