I ordered a '21 Tacoma TRD off-road, access cab on June 25th. It arrived yesterday, October 7th. It is just what I wanted, almost. Today I had a chance to go over the agreement I signed yesterday. They added about $1600 - maybe $2,000 if you include the $399 for "dealer prep", and told me it was added by the factory so there was nothing they could do about it. Take it or leave it. So they added, in addition to the dealer prep, Pulse, whatever that is, for $399; Anti-theft protection for $299, something that will probably help my insurance but I did not order; and the definitely not wanted "Permaplate Appearance", for $899!!!. This is a truck. It is the replacement for my '98 Tacoma TRD off-road extended cab (then 2 door) with 91,000 miles. It is not a status symbol; it is a truck. It is not nearly $50,000 when you include taxes, licensing and likely insurance increase better than the one I had.
This is likely common practice with dealers, especially now when any new vehicle is so hard to get, especially Tacomas.
The dealer, in this case, was Toyota of Kirkland, near Seattle.

Welcome to TW! And I’m sorry to hear of your dealer troubles, I wish you would’ve joined the forum prior to your purchase, I’d have recommended New Deal Used Cars,
they blow the living shit out of overpriced motherfuckers on the daily.
