I went with 295 (33.5" diameter) because I thought with the 285/75 (34") it would force me into re-gearing which I don't want to do. I realize this logic is not water-tight, but this is what finally tipped me toward 295s. They look great, I didn't need to cut much more, only a little bit more of the corners at the rear aspect of the front wheel well (though I had aftermarket front bumper and CMC already so I don't know about the front aspect of the wheel well). I've got about 1k miles on them and I don't feel I need to re-gear so far. I got it KDMax tuned which helped significantly, but even before that, I didn't think I needed a re-gear.

    Tough call.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
That’s a solid tire size and looks good on these trucks. Actually performs well on the 4runner and FJC as well. I run that size on all my trucks.

I'm running 295's on my 4Runner and very pleased with them! I'm carrying probably 500-600# of constant weight and still ok without a regear. If I towed anything heavy and often, I would definitely regear.

Yup, I tow and carry lots of weight. I regeared to 4.88s in the FJC and runner. The taco got 5.29s and is beast. Lol, might as well have a crawl box in low range.

I don't commute to work on them, but I do put on ~2K miles per month travelling. :burnrubber:

I'm trying to hold off on it as long as possible because of all of the highway driving I do. But, I think I'll regear eventually. I'm planning to leave it alone (mostly) until I get another vehicle, and then regear/35's/suspension (again :I). We'll see how long I can keep my word on that.

I drive a lot on the hwy, with the larger tires and weight I felt like I was burning more gas without the gears.
Trans was bouncing all over the place.

I don't doubt it. I am in S4 most of the time to save the transmission from downshifting constantly. It holds in OD better at 55-65 than at 75-80. So, I can get ~19 MPG if I'm not in a hurry. But, at 80, I'll get 12-13. o_O

But, I'm switching back to 285 AT's for winter. So, I don't want to regear until It's not daily driven anymore.

Been running my G003s for about 16 months, they've got about 21-22k miles on them. Wet traction initially was really good, so far they've been slipping much more but i guess that should be expected with a MT and one thats getting towards the end of their life.

I'd really want to get a new set but 285/75/17s are backordered until who knows when. At this might i might switch it up and grab some Toyo MTs since there really isnt a ton of options in 34"

All in all would still recommend these tires and i'd buy another set without question -- sucks the price has gone up on these since i originally bought them but that seems like everything these days with inflation

New wheels? I don't think I remember seeing those in any of your (or Dan's @turbodb )'s writeups.
