    ok so far.

The EMS folks told me to assess it tomorrow, as that’s when you usually begin to notice pain / discomfort.

Quite possibly a total it definitely needs a frame I would check for composite bed cracks look it over closely (get under it) make sure you point it all out . Take it too a toyota dealership with a bodyshop preferably without an insurance direct repair program which the insurance company will most likely direct you too (cheaper for them and they put the shop under time constraints). Trust me you don't want that. Remember a total can also hinge on the value of parting it out as well as total value . Btw the insurance companies own most of the junk yards now .

I am a dealership collision tech and if all the damage is caught up front I belive its a total .

    What are composite bed cracks?

    The entire bed is crumpled.

Here is a side pic of the bed. The entire bed would need to be replaced I believe, as it shifted forward and hit the cab. The inside of bed now has a giant bump pushing upwards.

The bed has a network of ribs and honeycomb like pattern underneath it is almost definitely cracked here and there. If your sore don't go climbing around under btw. Make sure you let the shop know you'll be looking at the gaps at the tailgate and color match at the cabcorner compared to the doors . If it was me I wouldn't want it back . That being said it can be repaired properly by the right tech but I wouldn't take it just anywhere.

Hope you feel ok . Definitely a bad time to be looking for a replacement.

This type of accident is why I balk at getting a high clearance rear bumper- as much as I’d love to get one I wonder how vulnerable the gas tank would be if rear ended by a low car and it hits the axle. Your bumper did it’s job and kept you safe!

Maybe not totalled. Progressive totalled my 2018 OR DCLB which had similar damage in the rear but also damage to the front. The adjuster said $22K to repair but they valued the truck at $41,270. And if yours is totalled, it could take a long time to get a new replacement.

The bumper didn't do too much its all plastic and one piece of sheet metal thick metal to hang the plastic on . But that receiver hitch took the hit . The frame absorbed the energy . It's a very lightweight design . The gas tank is in front of the rear axle . I wouldn't worry about the tank if that is what is keeping you from armor .

The only thing I agree with in the middle-east world is the penalty for drunk driving.

    First offense is beheading.
Not sure about what happens on the second offense... oh wait.

I feel bad for the cop who showed up.

I had thrown a car seat in the bed to donate (you can see it pictured) and it was thrown out of the bed and into the street.

I was pushed into the the Main Street when he struck me, I was sitting at a red light waiting to make a left.

By the time I knocked the cobwebs off and moved my truck, police had arrived.

The cop approached my vehicle, with a terrible look on his face and asked if I had kids in the car.

When I told him it was just me, this look of relief washed over him and he pointed out the car seat that was in the road.

Really made me realize that cops see things that would break the best of us.

How did you pursue your diminished value claim? My wifes vehicle was rear ended with $6000 in repairs. We are pursuing diminished value, but the insurance company wants us to provide several comps with similar damage and we don’t even know where to start. There are several companies that advertise diminished value estimates, but they all have multiple horrible reviews.

If we had that penalty here in the states, there’d be a lot less drunks on the road fer sure! Yikes!

There's no excuse for it. Christ call someone, take Uber, I bet if you called the cops and said hey I'm drunk at a bar and
need to get someplace and can't afford a cab etc I bet they'd show up and drive you some place. I'm 60+ and have never
had a DUI in my life or faced a felony charge either and really, it's not that difficult.

I used the 17c calculator (I don’t recall the exact one but this would do) https://lawyergraham.com/diminished-value-calculation. I am not an expert but that seemed to be ballpark and the other drivers insurance company offered a payout and I negotiated based on this value- it wasn’t a tremendous amnt but I think it was at least $3k. They ended up paying higher than their initial starting offer. I have to say I was so pleased w the other drivers insurance I would consider using them myself

wow holy shit man that’s tough and what a coincidence. Glad you’re okay and you’re truck will be too. I know I posted some smart ass stuff but I genuinely hate when people wreck and get injured.

You don't want them to total your truck. You will be left with a handful of cash, and no truck to buy.
