I have no problem shooting them with the 22

The 12 gauge was over kill to much collateral damage

    Hi crew. :pccoffee:
I spent a few hours cleaning up the small garage. Couldn't hardly believe there was that much extra room in there just after organizing....did throw some stuff out.
I didn't quite get finished because of decision to make a tool for sorting nuts, bolts, washers. Think of a rack for billiard balls, with one end opened and a bottom in it.
So I can dump a jar in there and sort find what i need then go back in the jar

After years of that approach and a 5 gallon bucket for metric and one for uss bolts.

I got tired of wasting the time bought bolt bins for both and filled them up just go get the correct bolt not dig for a hour

:anonymous:...when my grandfather passed away I had the opportunity to have one for free:frusty:
It even had several size fasteners in most. At the time, guess it just seemed like too much work to get all the stuff out and load n haul it off.

I remember selling that fastener organizer to a guy at the garage sale. He asked if he could buy it and when I said sure 50 dollars his reaction was like I was crazy...he jumped on getting that thing out of the shop in such a haste, like I would change my mind or something. Probably had $800.00 fasteners in it

i could understand maybe you just wanted the stuff gone so you did not need to pay to have it hauled away.

Sometimes you get good deals other times people are crazy with prices

That was exactly the situation. I was trying to get things cleaned up for grandma. I sold his Ford mid 70's F600 welding rig for $1,500 and it only had 60k some miles on it...but at least one broken brake line. Massive welder / generator on it like 4 or 6 cylinder continental gas engine driven.

I got a decent deal on a used bolt bin stack, about 6-1/2 feet high total. It was a good chunk of cash for a cheap guy but I have never regretted spending that money once.
TSC sells hardware by the pound, randomly I will get an assorted pound or two, keeps me stocked without a big outlay at once.

That is the kind of deal I would lug home even though I have no use for it. Too cool to have a giant truck and a giant welder around.
I have a long history (and a garage full) of cool trumping smart when it comes to tools and things with wheels.
Fortunately my penchant for cheapness serves as (sort of) a governor... most of the time... except when it is on the fritz... :anonymous:

To illustrate just how far cool can trump smart --- I once came very close to buying an item very similar to the one below...

A 1957 GMC PD-4104 highway bus. 35 feet long, 9 feet high, 8 feet wide, equipped with a Detroit Diesel 6-71 engine and weighing close to 30,000 pounds...

The only thing that stopped the deal was that the owner could not clearly explain the title no matter how I phrased the questions -- if that isn't enough to convince you of the intervention of a higher power I don't know what will. :amen:

What the heck was I thinking?? -- Oh, yeah - I remember now -- "that would be cool!":crazy::crazy:

Yeah right, more like a 30,000 pound piece of yard art in my case. ;)

Remember, it took me 2-1/2 years to fix the brakes on the wagon.

My aspirations far outpace my ambitions. :turtleride:

Dude... that is strictly amateur hour! Around 2000, Datong Locomotive Works in China were selling off their last few refurbished QJ class steam locomotives (China built new, mainline steam locomotives as late as 2005!) for $135,000, US, landed to a west coast port. I had actually convinced the Minister of Finance (AKA: "SWMBO") that this was a reasonable purchase. The only reason I never pulled the trigger was because, living on Vancouver Island, the cost of permits and transport to get it from Delta Port near Vancouver, about 25 miles across the Strait of Georgia, to Victoria where I live was going to be >$250,000! That expenditure did NOT get approved! :( (FWIW, I still think it would have been a sensible purchase!).

Digging through a set of old plans, it makes one wonder, with that much rebar, why didn't they just make the entire thing out of steel.

    Why so much rebar?
